Uncovering the mechanisms through which our brain integrates the information derived from the different senses, and how multisensory integration shapes human perception and behaviour. These issues are faced from a neurophysiological perspective, by using non-invasive brain stimulation techniques as tools to interact and modulate multisensory interactions in the brain, as well as through the investigation of multisensory processing in neurological patients.
Discovering how to effectively interact with brain plasticity in the healthy and damaged brain. We develop and validate evidence-based neurostimulation protocols acting on cross-modal associative plasticity for cognitive, sensory, and motor rehabilitation with the final goal to promote adaptive plasticity processes in acute and chronic neurological patients.
Developing and standardizing of new neuropsychological assessment tests. Our goal is to refine diagnostic precision and improve the characterization of cognitive deficits in neurological and psychiatric populations, providing reliable instruments for both clinical practice and research applications.
Contributing to the development and validation of specialized neuropsychological tools and scales designed to support forensic evaluations in legal settings. We also explore the cognitive mechanisms underlying aggressive behavior and susceptibility to frays in older population.Â
