A. We offer 60 minute riding lessons for $45 per lesson. You are welcome to use one of our lesson horses or bring your own horse for a haul-in lesson.
We are available to travel to locations within 30 miles of De Queen, AR for $60 per 60 minute lesson. Areas outside of the 30-mile radius are subject to travel fees in addition to the lesson cost.
Q. How do I pay for lessons?
A. You can pay for lessons individually or four lessons at a time for a 10% discount. We accept cash, check, Venmo, Zelle, and CashApp.
Q. What is your cancellation policy?
A. Lessons are subject to a 24-hour cancellation policy and are non-refundable if you cancel within the 24-hour window. If you cancel more than 24 hours out, then we can just reschedule for another day.
We only have an outdoor arena at Mulberry Hill Farm and are thus subject to the weather. If inclement weather forces us to cancel, we will do our very best to do so more than 24 hours away from your lesson time. Lessons that we cancel within the 24-hour window can simply be rescheduled for another day.
A. We do not allow children four years old or younger to participate in our lesson program. For lead line lessons, your child must be five years old. To ride independently, your child must be six years old.
Adults of all ages and skill sets are welcome at Mulberry Hill Farm!
A. Students will not be permitted to ride without their own helmet and boots. We do not have helmets or boots available to borrow.
Every visitor near our horses must be wearing closed-toed shoes regardless of whether they are riding or observing. Students must have their own ASTM/SEI certified riding helmet and appropriate footwear. Western boots are acceptable for the first few lessons, but by lesson #10, students must have paddock boots. We encourage purchasing half chaps for leg stability, but they are not required. Jeans are acceptable, but breeches are preferred. Hair must be worn back during riding.
We firmly believe that bareback riding is the best way to become a better rider! If you/your child wants to ride bareback for the lesson, please let us know beforehand. Shorts are acceptable in lieu of jeans or breeches for bareback lessons.
Q. I have very little/no prior riding experience. What can I expect for my first 10 lessons?
A. Your first 10 lessons will consist of learning the basics of equine behavior, how to take care of the horse before/after riding (brushing, picking hooves, tacking up/down, hosing off), longline lessons to correctly develop your seat and balance, and confidence-boosting activities that will teach you to ride skillfully and independently in the arena, on the trail, and in open spaces.
Q. What can I expect after I finish my first 10 lessons?
A. Your 10th lesson will be an evaluation of your riding ability. If you have sufficiently progressed, then you will be allowed to start arriving ~30 minutes before your scheduled lesson time to prepare your horse without your instructor's oversight. You will also be asked to fill out a short worksheet reflecting on your riding goals and interests. This will help your instructor customize their approach to better help you going forward.
Q. I have prior riding experience. What can I expect for my first lesson?
A. Your first lesson will be an evaluation ride. Depending on your experience, you may be asked to demonstrate your ability to walk, trot, canter, ride outside of the arena, navigate obstacles, or go over ground poles.
