Baton Rouge Representative of The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan
Student Minister Abdul Rashid is the founding student minister of Muhammad Mosque No. 65 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana under the leadership of The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan. Brother Rashid and his wife traveled to Baton Rouge in 1989 from Chicago to establish the first Nation of Islam mosque since The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan started re-building the working and Teachings of The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad since his departure in 1975 and the fall of The Nation of Islam. Brother Rashid says that he came to Baton Rouge with his wife, a truck and $500 in his pocket.
Brother Rashid is also a master carpenter and is credited with helping to renovate several of the mosques in The Nation of Islam including Mosque Maryam, Los Angeles, and Phoenix.
