Handmade pottery, ceramics, and art takes time and effort to make. When you purchase a bespoke item, you know you're buying one of a kind pieces.
Film and TV:
We work with SetDec and Props to develop items for productions. A development fee of $150 applies to cover supplies, glaze, and testing time. In-person collaboration recommended. Fees for products depends on number of items, clay and glaze supplies and production time. Contract required.
Single items, or small sets of items:
We will work with you to determine sizes and finishes for small sets. Fees are determined based on supplies, and time. Contracts may be required depending on number of items.
Large-scale Commissions:
Commissioners must be in, or near Calgary, or willing to travel several times during the development process. A non-refundable development fee of $150 is required to cover time, materials, testing, and acquisition of glazes. Contract required.
A Note About Glazes:
Some glazes will be either impossible to make or acquire. As an example, Rockingham, a glaze from the mid 1700s, whist being gorgeous, was also poisonous owing to the inclusion of lead. Glazy.com is a good place to start when seeking glazes that are not commercially made. We will replicate glazes as best as possible, but exact reproductions are rarely possible.
Clay Bodies and Heat:
Firing temperatures - and clay bodies - also affect glaze selection. I fire to cone 6. Clays and glazes that require firing to cone 10 are not available through my studio directly but can be commissioned through public studios.
We cannot guarantee work we make will be identical to any work you like, or already have on hand and want replicated, if that work was made by another potter/ceramicist.
