Welcome! I am a versatile health researcher and thinker: currently a Senior Research Associate (Epidemiologist in Global Health and Ageing) at the Bristol Medical School, University of Bristol, UK and a Honorary Research Fellow at the School of Health and Wellbeing, University of Glasgow, UK.
I am an author of over 30 journal publications including in leading medical journals such as eClinicalMedicine, JAMA, the BMJ, and the Lancet, see full list in the publications page (at the top) or here. My research interests include noncommunicable diseases epidemiology including interventions for prevention and control; surrogate outcomes and trial methodology; and health systems and policy research. I am skilled in quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis, evidence synthesis, research dissemination, project coordination and management. My research, teaching and mentorship experience can be found on the experience page or here.
I was born and raised in rural Nyeri County, birth and home county of Kenya's third president, Mwai Kibaki. I went to the same high school as him (Mangu High School) and then proceeded to Moi University, graduating with a BSc (First Class Honours). I obtained my postgraduate education in the UK: MSc with Distinction from UWE Bristol and PhD from University of Glasgow. See details on my education on the education page or here.
I support Manchester United and Real Madrid football clubs and like exploring the outdoors through long walks and hill hiking.
