The event will be hosted at Evanston campus at the Northwestern Technological Institute (link to campus map + google map). Please don't go to the Chicago city campus or you will be alone and muon-colliderless.
Parking on the Evanston Campus can be found at either the Segal Visitors Center Garage (link) or the North Parking Garage (link) [Closer to the venue]. Parking doesn't need to be reserved and costs ~ $9 per day. We recommend carpooling with your colleagues to save on parking.
When you arrive at the Northwestern Technological Institute, the conference venue will be centred around Room F160. If you enter through the central main doors on Sheridan Road, you first turn right and follow to the end of the hallway (passing by the elevator), then turn right and walk to the end of that corridor (terminating in the Center of Fundamental Interactions offices). You then turn left and room F160 is at the end of that corridor on your left. [NW Tech is notoriously a maze]
We will provide coffee breaks during the meeting but you will be responsible for obtaining your own meals for breakfast and lunch times. A list of suggested food and coffee places map be found below.
The self-funded social dinner post-workshop will be at Double Clutch Brewing Co. (maps) in Evanston and will be at 6pm.
Here is a selection of my personal recommendations for food and drinks around Evanston. Of course there's plenty more!
Morning coffee
Coffee lab, 910 Noyes St (maps): delicious coffee and asian baked goods. A small walk from the Physics department on campus.
Newport Coffee house, 622 Davis St (maps): great coffee in downtown evanston, very slick interior. Good place to pull out a laptop for an hour en-route to the department. For parking download the city of evanston parking app or be conscious of the meters.
Food when driving to campus
Lunches
Walking distance
Kellogg School of Management Cafeteria (maps): Heaps of food options here, this is our usual lunch haunt.
Norris Centre (maps): food-court style food options
Stacked and Folded (maps): sandwiches, burgers, wraps
Soban Korea (maps): Korean restaurant
Rollin at D&D (maps): Sandwiches. There's a hotdog/grill place just outside too for something less healthy.
Tomate (maps): Mexican food. You can order ahead on their website online before you walk over.
