Meeting Announcement
Dear Interested Mars Scientists,
We will hold the (re-)re-scheduled Mars Upper Atmosphere Network Meeting (MUAN) in Uppsala on the 2nd to the 4th of May 2022. We welcome any and all abstracts that focus on the physics of the Martian Induced Magnetosphere, Ionosphere and Upper Atmosphere.
We intend to use this workshop to continue the spirit of open and informal scientific collaboration that has driven previous MUAN meetings.
The meeting will take the form of a 3 day workshop, with presentations and ample time for discussion. It will be held in the Uppsala Science Park, close to IRF Uppsala. Uppsala itself is a short train/taxi/bus ride from Stockholm’s largest airport, Arlanda.
The cost of the meeting will be 2500 SEK (~260 USD / ~230 EUR) including lunch and coffee and a meeting dinner. Payment will be made by bank transfer, ideally. Payment details will be provided to registered attendees prior to the meeting.
Since Covid-19 continues to be a factor in peoples travel planning and decisions, we want to make clear the following:
Travel:
1) Travel to Sweden from within the EU/EEA is not subject to any Covid-related controls.
2) Travel from “approved countries” (currently including the USA) is permitted with evidence of vaccination.
3) Travel from “exempted countries” is permitted if you can prove residence in said country.
4) The full details of travel requirements are given here:
Covid restrictions _within_ Sweden are essentially now absent, in any practical sense, but more information can be found in English at
The meeting space: We have a meeting room booked that can comfortably seat 50 people, but do not envisage that this will be full (previous meetings have attracted ~30 attendees). Nevertheless, this sets a hard limit to the maximum number of attendees.
We recognise that this is still an evolving situation, and will therefore do our very best to issue full or at least maximal refunds to any attendee who is not able to travel for whatever reason. Complete refunds can be provided up to 1 April.
The deadline for registration and abstract submissions is the 25th of March, 2022.
We encourage you to book hotel rooms at the earliest possible opportunity. No-cost cancellation policies are easy to find. There are many options in central Uppsala across a range of prices.
We look forward to welcoming you to Uppsala in the Spring!
Best Regards,
