Amanda Rose, PH.D.

Dr. Amanda J. Rose is Professor of Psychological Sciences at the University of Missouri.

Dr. Rose’s research focuses on gender, relationships, and emotional adjustment from childhood through young adulthood. She also teaches and gives talks about women’s professional development, with a focus on what girls and women need to know to reach their full potential.

Ashley Groh, Ph.D.

Dr. Ashley Groh is an Assistant Professor of Psychological Sciences and directs the Family and Child Development Lab at the University of Missouri.

Dr. Groh's research focuses on the significance of children’s early relationships with primary caregivers for social and emotional development across the lifespan. The goals of her research lie in understanding the contribution of early parent-child relationships to developmental adaptation in childhood, adolescence, and adulthood; the developmental processes through which such experiences exert an organizing force on development; and the mechanisms by which adversity within early parent-child relationships can be overcome.

Sarah Borowski, M.A.

Sarah Borowski is a doctoral student in Developmental Psychology at the University of Missouri. Originally from Maryland, Sarah received her B.A. in Psychology and Spanish from Elon University and her M.A. in Psychology from the College of William & Mary before coming to the University of Missouri in 2014.

Sarah’s research examines the influence of communication within friendships on adolescent development and well-being. Specifically, much of her work examines co-rumination (i.e., frequent, repetitive discussion of personal problems that is characterized by dwelling on negative emotions). Her research involves assessments of behavior, affect, and physiology. Sarah is currently funded by a NRSA Pre-Doctoral Fellowship through the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development to complete her doctoral research. Sarah’s dissertation project examines physiological coregulation between adolescent friends during discussions of personal problems. She is supervised by both Dr. Amanda Rose and Dr. Ashley Groh.

Allie Spiekerman

Allie Spiekerman is a first-year doctoral student in the developmental area of psychology. She is originally from the San Francisco Bay Area and received her BA in Psychology from Willamette University in Salem, Oregon, where she researched the links between peer relationships, coping strategies, and internalizing symptoms. Her research interests involve understanding the mechanisms within adolescents’ close peer relationships that drive pathways to psychological adjustment. Particularly, she is interested in how gender and aspects of friendship quality influence friendship behaviors and adjustment outcomes. Outside of the lab, Allie enjoys biking the Katy Trail and knitting sweaters for her dog, Albee.

Emma burton

Emma Burton is a sophomore at the University of Missouri studying physics with emphasis in astronomy and English. As an ASH Scholar, she currently transcribes adolescent friend interactions and codes data for the research project Close Relationships. When she’s not in the psychology or physics lab, she spends her time walking around enjoying the atmosphere of her hometown, Columbia, reading or taking afternoon naps, and volunteering with local scouts.

Archer Cole

Archer Cole is a freshman from Webb City, Missouri. He is majoring in Journalism. In his free time, Archer enjoys writing.

Caroline Davey

Caroline Davey is a Sophomore with a Psychology major and a Criminology minor. She is from Oswego, Illinois. Her hobbies center around service and music, as she is in the Women’s Music Fraternity Sigma Alpha Iota. Caroline is part of the data collection team as a Research Assistant in the Peer Relations Lab. After college, she plans to continue with Psychology and research by working in labs just like this one.

Lindsay Durdle

Lindsay Durdle is a senior at the University of Missouri and is from Columbia. She is pursuing a degree in Psychology, and minors in HDFS, sociology, and business. She is currently working on her honor's senior thesis under the guidance of Dr. Rose. After she graduates in May, Lindsay plans to continue her education and earn a PhD in Clinical Psychology and focus on mood disorders in adolescence. Lindsay is also an exec member for her sorority, Delta Delta Delta, a gymnastics coach, and a nanny! Her hobbies are interior design, reading, and she is obsessed with tiktok.

Catherine Everett

Catherine Everett is a sophomore studying psychology. She plans to apply to medical school and pursue a career as a physician. In her free time she enjoys playing tennis, running, and hanging out with friends and family.

Hannah holladay

Hannah Holladay is a junior at the University of Missouri from Franklin, TN. She is currently pursuing degrees in Journalism and Psychology, with a minor in Spanish. She hopes to have a career in health communication post-graduation. Outside of the lab, Hannah works with the Health Communication Research Center and is involved with Mizzou Club Synchronized Skating, Mizzou's chapter of the American Advertising Federation, and It's On Us. She enjoys tea, books, and design.

Brayden Langendoerfer

Brayden Langendoerfer is a sophomore from Jefferson City, Missouri. He is currently pursuing a degree in Middle School Education with an emphasis in English Language Arts with minors in English and Sociology. Brayden hopes to continue his education by attending graduate school for Curriculum Development and then for Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis. Aside from being an ASH Scholar, Brayden is a member of the College of Education Ambassador Leadership Team, the College of Education Student Council, a site leader for Mizzou Alternative Breaks, and a volunteer for the Central Missouri Foster Care & Adoption Agency. In his free time, Brayden enjoys reading, trying different coffees, and watching movies.

Kassandra Ramos

Kassandra Ramos is a freshman at the University of Missouri from Farmington, MO. She is majoring in biology and sociology on a pre-medical track and pursuing a career as a physician-scientist. Kassandra is a member of the Asian American Association, the MARC/IMSD program, and the Mizzou Honors College. In her free time, she enjoys running, reading, drawing, and hiking.

Daniella Reyes

Daniella Reyes is a sophomore majoring in Psychology and Communications. This is her second year working in the Peer Relations Lab and her first year in the ASH program. She is also a Mizzou Involvement Ambassador and a member of Alpha Delta Pi and Best Buddies.

Christine Schulze

Christine Schulze is a psychology major in her senior year looking to pursue a graduate degree in counseling with a focus on adolescents. She’s from Kansas City and does gymnastics and music in her free time.

Gabrielle Scott

Gabrielle Scott is a senior at the University of Missouri. She is finishing her major in Psychology with a minor in Biological Sciences and Religious Studies. After graduation, she hopes to be accepted into a Clinical Psychology PhD program. Outside of academics, she is also a member of Sigma Phi Lambda and has served in several Mizzou Alternative Breaks trips. If she's not working in the lab or other school projects, she spends her time adventuring with her three year old pitbull, Kilo!
