Skye is delighted to represent MTYBA as their President for her second term.
She looks forward to continuing her collaboration with the Inn and its members, focusing on creating and enhancing opportunities for all junior members of the bar, wherever they are in their journey.
Before being called in 2023, Skye represented the student members of the Inn as the MTSA President where she won the Lloyd Jacob Memorial Award for her work representing and supporting the junior members of the Inn.
Skye is a current Harold G Fox Scholar working at McCarthy Tétrault.
Silas Boateng, Vice President of the MTYBA, began his tenure by launching a Debate Club to boost advocacy and confidence among young barristers. He intends to develop key initiatives that support professional growth, including the MTYBA Journal and MTYBA Podcast, aimed at addressing pressing issues at the junior Bar.
As a member of Middle Temple’s International Committee, he intends to raise awareness of Home Office regulations that affect international barristers seeking to practise in the UK.
Jyotsna is currently working as a Civil litigation paralegal at LPC Law. She completed her Bar and LLM in International Commercial Law from Cardiff Law School.
Jyotsna is thrilled to serve her third term on our committee, where she is eager to continue organising engaging events for junior members of the Bar.
Joseph was called to the Bar in 2023.
He is a Harmsworth Scholar currently working as a criminal paralegal at Lloyds PR Solicitors and is an aspiring criminal law barrister. As Secretary & Welsh Circuit Representative for MTYBA, Joseph is committed to assisting in hosting events and ensuring all members feel heard and included, as well as organising competitions.
Outside of the law, Joseph is a band member playing the guitar and bass.
Shair Alam Khan was called to the bar in March 2024 at the Middle Temple and is an advocate of the High Court and the Federal Shariah Court of Pakistan. He earned his LLM in Commercial and Corporate Law from Queen Mary, University of London. Currently, he serves the charity Bail for Immigration Detainees, where he aids vulnerable individuals in detention by preparing bail applications and advocating for their rights.
As the Social Secretary of MTYBA, Shair is dedicated to organising inclusive events that strengthen community ties among young barristers. He focuses on promoting social mobility and ensuring that all members feel empowered and valued. Through his initiatives, Shair fosters networking opportunities with senior barristers and judges, boosting the morale and confidence of emerging legal professionals.
Philip is currently a Practising Pupil at Castle Gate Chambers, Nottingham.
Before pupillage, Philip enjoyed a successful career as a Senior Lecturer, specialising in Criminal and Professional Regulatory Law. He also spent 6 years as a County Court Advocate.
Philip will also represent MTYBA on Middle Temple's Standing Education and Training Committee.
Mischa is a Trainee Family Law Legal Adviser and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Officer. Mischa is of the belief that EDI is for everyone, not just underrepresented groups.
This term, Mischa will be focusing on inclusion and working closely with the wider Bar community to create sustainable and lasting safe spaces for everyone.
Hannah is delighted to serve as MTYBA's Communications Officer for her second term.
She looks forward to enhancing MTYBA's outreach and fostering engagement among members.
Hannah is currently working as a Trainee Solicitor at Shoosmiths LLP.
Catharine is a Pupil Barrister at Westgate Chambers, specialising in the areas of family and civil law.
She looks forward to her term as Pupillage Officer of Middle Temple. She intends to create opportunities for pupils to enhance their skills and develop their practice.
She will also be an active voice for all pupils across England and Wales.
Polina is a paralegal to a barrister and County Court advocate.
As a co Pre-Pupillage officer, Polina will bring her years of experience in applying for pupillage to provide support and advice for MTYBA members through their own journeys.
Polina’s strategy will focus on each stage of pupillage applications - starting from the CV, to the paper sift and interviews. Stay tuned for useful information about experience that chambers like on CVs, events on application writing techniques and practice debate and problem question sessions.
Keshav completed his LLB, Master’s, and Bar Training Course at Cardiff University, before working in Cardiff for two years and then moving to London.
Keshav currently works at a London-based law firm specialising in international commercial arbitration, while also undertaking a PhD in the same subject at the University of Reading.
Keshav believes that pupillage should be accessible to everyone, no matter their nationality, race, immigration status, or choice of college.
Keshav is excited to contribute to the committee and will do his best to help make this dream a reality for himself and other young, unregistered barristers starting on the same journey.
Amy is delighted to be the Northern Circuit Chair for 2025–2026. She looks forward to uniting barristers and aspiring barristers across the Northern Circuit and working closely with the committee to support junior members of the Bar.
Amy is committed to listening to the ideas of MTYBA members to ensure meaningful and inclusive support.
She currently works as a Paralegal at DWF.
