Silas seeks to build on the work of previous committees and introduce new initiatives to support young barristers at Middle Temple

Shair was called to the Bar by Middle Temple in March 2024. He is also an Advocate of the High Court of Pakistan, with over ten years of advocacy and litigation experience spanning two jurisdictions. He holds an LLM in Commercial and Corporate Law from Queen Mary University of London.
Alongside his practice, Shair works as an Immigration Caseworker (IAA Level 1) at Bail for Immigration Detainees, where he supports vulnerable people held in immigration removal centres and prisons — preparing bail applications and standing up for those who need it most. Fluent in English, Urdu, Punjabi, and Pashto, with working knowledge of Persian and Arabic, he is committed to access to justice, inclusion, and representation across the profession.
Catharine is a barrister at Westgate chambers specialising in financial remedies of divorce, Children Act proceedings and unmarried couple disputes.
She was previously the MTYBA pupillage officer, she is now a part of the Bar Council’s Young Bar Committee and sits on the Bar Council’s ProBono Committee.
Catharine has a particular interest in cryptocurrency, pensions and unmarried couple disputes. Outside of work Catharine enjoys assisting the future generation of junior counsel.
Joseph secured and completed pupillage with Public Defender Service, Ministry of Justice. Prior to that, he was a senior social security policy advisor and also worked as a personal trainer.
As an employed barrister, his practice demands are unique and he understands the importance of building his practice while balancing other key priorities. Working within the civil service brings a unique sense of public service, and the ability make a positive difference to the United Kingdom. Joseph volunteers for a number of charities as a Trustee.
He lives in Midlands with his young family and enjoys exercise, watching rugby and eating.
Jonathan was called to the bar in 2023 and is currently working at Stewarts Law, in the catastrophic injury department.
Originally from the North-East, near Middlesbrough, he moved to Leeds for University and has stayed here ever since.
It is Jonathan's intention to stay in the northern and north-eastern circuits post-pupillage and develop a medical negligence/injury practice.
