Information for the 2025 Spring Track and Field Season
We are looking forward to the start of the spring season on Monday, March 3rd. As we are well aware things can change at any time. Our season may start on time, be delayed, or paused during the season. The varsity program is for students in grades 10 through 12. Freshman athletes are invited to move up to the varsity program based upon performance and ability to commit to the varsity schedule.

2025 Track and Field - Organizational Information
Paperwork and Registration - Required to be completed prior to the start of the season
(1) PIAA physical form
◦ PIAA Form is available on MT athletics page - Click Here
◦ Completion of form –
If this is your 1st sport Sections 1-7 must be completed – requires physical with doctor
If this is at least your 2nd sport - Recertification – Section 8 - just parent and athlete signatures
◦ PIAA physcical form is due by February 17
Turn in on Healthy Roster (not a coach or HS office).

Be sure to fully complete and sign in all required locations.
You may not practice until approved by athletic department and training staff – no exceptions

◦ Be sure to communicate any injuries to both a coach and trainers
Practice Necessities
◦ Good running shoes - very important (have extra old pair for muddy days)
◦ Sweat suit – required at all practices for warmup
◦ Hat and gloves – outside on cold days
◦ Swimsuit and towel – pool workouts
◦ Lock for locker!
◦ Lock up valuables
◦ Locker rooms – adjacent to the pool
◦ No portable listening devices during practice
◦ Distance runners – a watch or GPS watch is an important training item.
Expectations and team rules
◦ Family first, academics, track and field then other activities
◦ School academic eligibility
Expectation is you are passing all subjects
If failing 2 subjects, you will be ineligible for 1 week
Monday through Sunday
Week 1 – may practice but no competitions
Week 2 and 3 – may not practice
Week 4 – removal from team
◦ Time management is important
◦ Extra help/makeup should be done before school when possible
after school makeup work should be kept to minimum and completed as soon as possible after school clear with coach and bring a pass from teacher to practice with you
◦ Practices – Start at 3:00pm – Monday-Friday
Non-school / Saturdays – normally 9:00am
Ending time of practices is by 5:30pm/ Sat 11:30am
Check emails and team calendar for changes and special practice times
◦ Practices are mandatory –unexcused absence may result in suspension or dismissal
2 unexcused absences = parent meeting
3 unexcused absences = unable to participate in a meet (W Track removal from team)
4 unexcused absences = removal from team
An unexcused absence the day before a meet may result in not participating in the meet
◦ Conflicts need to be approved by head coach
◦ Must have a sweatshirt and sweatpants during warmups for ALL practices
◦ In school by 8:00am to be eligible for practice or meet unless excused appt.
Parent notes do not permit an athlete to practice.
◦ Enter/exit from the arena entrance for all Saturday practices and meets
◦ EXHIBIT PROPER BEHAVIOR AT ALL TIMES.
◦ Profanity will not be tolerated.
◦ Act responsibly at all times. At school, school activities, on your own time. Any thing you do reflects on the team. ◦ Always be a good citizen.
◦ Do your best in the classroom. You are a student first and athlete second.
◦ Disciplinary action may include: meeting with coach, dismissal from practice, suspension of one or more meets, or dismissal from team.
All PIAA rules apply.
◦ PERSONAL APPEARANCE
A. No offensive clothing will be worn to school, practice or meets.
B. Only attire judged acceptable by coaches will be accepted at practice or meets.
◦ ALL SCHOOL RULES ARE IN EFFECT.

School Narcotics, Smoking, and Vandalism policies.
PIAA No steroid use policy.
◦ YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL ISSUED EQUIPMENT/UNIFORMS
If it is damaged or lost, you must pay for it.
◦ GROUNDS FOR DISMISSAL FROM TEAM
Violation of school or team policies.
Unexcused absences may result in suspension from meet.
4 unexcused absences may result in dismissal from team. (3 in Winter Track)
◦ Meet Expectations
All athletes are required to stay until the end of the meet.
Athletes are expected to ride to and from the meet on the team bus.
Athletes must have 10 practices before competing in a meet and 5 for a scrimmage.
Anyone not riding on the bus must have a written permission slip signed by his/her parent and prior coaches consent.
No athlete may ride to or from a meet with another athlete.
Philosophy
◦ Athletes come first - goal to win, not at all cost
◦ This is #1 extra-curricular during the season, you will not be excused to attend another activity of sport
◦ Commitment – on time, all the time
◦ Work hard – enjoy the sport
◦ Need to set goals – give vision and direction –
