Frequently Asked Questions
The Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) is a national music teacher organization that offers exciting opportunities for musicians like you! From concerts and competitions to conferences and networking events, MTNA provides a platform for musicians to connect, share ideas, and inspire one another.
California Association of Professional Music Teachers (CAPMT) is the California affiliate/state branch of MTNA.
Every year, MTNA is run by active members and also college-age student groups called “collegiate chapters.” There are many MTNA collegiate chapters throughout the United States, including Indiana University, CSU Long Beach, San Diego State University, University of Southern California, Fresno City College, University of Michigan, UT Austin, and many more.
Here at RCC, our collegiate chapter provides a supportive community of musicians and hosts events that serve the interests of our student population.
The Young Professional Leadership Network (YPLN) is a CAPMT initiative dedicated to supporting new and emerging California music teachers in the early stages of their careers. By creating a statewide network of musicians, the YPLN seeks to increase opportunities in leadership and professional development, equipping early-career teachers to become successful music leaders and advocates for arts education in their communities.
Young Professionals on Stage is the YPLN performance series created for music teachers (new and experienced) seeking to perform, network, and inspire. These events take place at local colleges and universities throughout California.
