Milad Tatar Mamaghani was born on May 12, 1994, in Tabriz, Iran. Milad was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Level B) at The Australian National University (ANU), Canberra, Australia. He received his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Wireless Communications from Monash University, Melbourne, Australia, in 2022. Prior to this, he obtained a double Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) with Honours in Telecommunications Engineering and a minor in Control Engineering from the Amirkabir University of Technology (Tehran Polytechnic), Tehran, Iran, in 2018.Β
Milad has been the recipient of prestigious awards, including the IEEE Communications Society's Signal Processing and Computing for Communications Technical Committee (SPCC-TC) Best Paper Award (the top contribution in the field recognized annually) and the 2024 IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC) Best Paper Award in Communication Theory Symposium (top 0.6% of 2,364 contributions). He has also received competitive grants, scholarships, and accolades such as the ANU's Early Career Researcher International Travel Grant (2023), the Postgraduate Publications Award and the Graduate Research Completion Award (2022), the Monash Graduate and International Tuition Scholarships (2019β2022), and the Vice-Chancellor's Congratulatory Letter for outstanding teaching staff recognition (2019).Β
Milad has authored and co-authored several high-impact peer-reviewed papers in top-tier IEEE journals and conferences. He has also served as a conference Session Chair for IEEE GlobeCom'23, a Technical Program Committee (TPC) member for IEEE VTC'24, and a conference and journal reviewer for numerous esteemed publication venues. His research interests span cutting-edge topics, including 5G-and-beyond wireless communications and networks, physical-layer cybersecurity, non-terrestrial networks, statistical signal processing, convex optimization, and machine learning. He is an IEEE Member and a valued active member of the IEEE Communications Society and the IEEE Signal Processing Society.
Outside of work, Milad enjoys a variety of activities that help maintain a healthy work-life balance. He is passionate about hiking, fitness, swimming, and badminton, which provide both relaxation and physical challenges. He also finds inspiration in music and enjoys the strategic thinking required in chess. Milad believes that these activities not only enhance his well-being but also motivate him to stay focused and fulfilled in his professional endeavors.
