Mr. Walker recently joined the music department at Mount Ayr Community Schools for the 2025–2026 school year.
He is a graduate of Sikeston Senior High School in Sikeston, Missouri, and earned his Bachelor of Music Education degree with an emphasis in Jazz Performance from Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Missouri. During his time at Culver-Stockton, he performed with various regional ensembles, including the Quincy Concert Band, the Bullis Rutter Big Band, and the Big River Swing Machine. Mr. Walker completed his student teaching in Keokuk, Iowa, under the guidance of Krystal Bottorff and Joshua Hetzel.
After graduation, Mr. Walker began his teaching career at Stanberry R-II, where he taught for two years before moving on to Sikeston R-VI. He later served as the head band director at Dexter R-XI in Dexter, Missouri, for three years. While living in Southeast Missouri, he remained active as a performer, playing with the Cape Girardeau Municipal Band and the Big Band of the Heartland.
In 2024, Mr. Walker began teaching at Mound City R-II in Northwest Missouri. While in the region, he has been an active performer in the St. Joseph Big Band. As of 2025 Mr. Walker has also enjoyed performing in the Winterset Community Band, just north of Mt. Ayr!
Outside the classroom, Mr. Walker enjoys reading science fiction books, listening to tech podcasts, and spending time with his family—his wife, Jacy Walker, the new choir director, and their daughter, Delphina.
