My MT-09 ABS warning indicator on the dash lit up after riding for about 10 minutes on the expressway. I thought it was due to the rain earlier, causing some sort of error on the ABS, or fearing that water might have gotten into the wires somehow.
The next day, after the bike had completely dried off, I rode around and the ABS error light came back on again after few minutes of riding. Then it occurred to me that it could be due to a front suspension job done the day before.
I had my OEM front fork springs replaced with a pair of Ohlins and the mechanic at the shop had assembled the ABS sensor wrongly while putting everything back onto the bike.
All it took was 30 seconds to swap the positions of the sensor and the support bracket.
Notice the support bracket is on the inner side of the wheel.
Notice the support bracket is on the outer side of the wheel.
Compare the gap between the sensor and rotor.
The sensor should be closer to the ABS rotor. This small mistake caused the ABS to malfunction. The distance between the sensor to the ABS rotor cannot be more than a few millimeters apart.
Hope this helps if any of you are facing the same problem!
