This Privacy Policy explains how Messages & Home ("the Application," "the App"), developed by Message Texto ("we," "our," or "us"), handles your personal information when you use our mobile software.
We prioritize user privacy and are committed to maintaining a secure environment. This document outlines our data practices, detailing the permissions we request and the technology we deploy to make the App function effectively.
1. Fundamental Principle: Localized Processing
Our core design principle is data minimization:
No Remote Storage: We do not own, operate, or maintain central servers that collect, store, upload, or analyze your personal text messages, multimedia files, contacts, or installed app inventories.
On-Device Operation: All standard tasks—such as viewing conversations, indexing contacts, rendering photos, displaying the app drawer, hosting home screen widgets, and organizing app layouts—are conducted entirely offline on your local device hardware.
2. Device Capabilities & Permissions
To serve as a functional default SMS/MMS client and an integrated home launcher, the App must interact with specific Android operating system frameworks. These permissions are accessed strictly when necessary to deliver features you trigger.
A. Text and Multimedia Messaging (SMS & MMS)
Declared Permissions: READ_SMS, RECEIVE_SMS, SEND_SMS, RECEIVE_MMS
Why We Need Them: These permissions form the foundational messaging utility of the App. They enable you to read incoming texts, compose messages, send multimedia content (MMS), and keep your conversation logs up to date.
Data Flow: Messages are transferred through your cellular carrier's telecommunications infrastructure to the recipient. We do not inspect, extract, or reroute your communications to any secondary servers.
B. Address Book Integration
Declared Permission: READ_CONTACTS
Why We Need It: Allows the App to match phone numbers with known contact names, display profile avatars, and provide real-time recipient suggestions when starting a new message thread or pinning contact shortcuts to your home screen.
Data Flow: Contact records stay on your handset; they are never compiled into an external directory or shared with third parties.
C. Telephony Management
Declared Permissions: CALL_PHONE, READ_PHONE_STATE
Why We Need Them: These permissions let you initiate direct phone calls to conversation participants without leaving the App and ensure the user interface adjusts properly if an incoming phone call interrupts a session.
D. Quick-Reply & Screen Overlay
Declared Permission: SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW
Why We Need It: Enables convenient "heads-up" or pop-up reply windows over other active apps, allowing you to answer urgent incoming texts quickly without switching screens.
E. Background Continuity and Performance
Declared Permissions: FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_DATA_SYNC, RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED, SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM, WAKE_LOCK
Why We Need Them: These system services maintain background reliability. They guarantee that the App synchronizes messages promptly, delivers notifications without delay even when the device is idle, and restores background listeners automatically after a device reboot.
F. Device Feedback
Declared Permission: VIBRATE
Why We Need It: Provides physical haptic feedback when new alerts, incoming messages, or delivery receipts arrive.
G. Home Screen Launcher & App Management
Declared Permissions: BIND_APPWIDGET, REQUEST_DELETE_PACKAGES, EXPAND_STATUS_BAR
Widget Integration (BIND_APPWIDGET): Enables the launcher to host, display, and bind third-party app widgets directly on your custom home screen pages. The App does not monitor, read, or export data contained within hosted widgets.
App Uninstallation (REQUEST_DELETE_PACKAGES): Allows you to initiate the uninstallation of unwanted apps directly from your home screen or app drawer. The App never deletes packages silently; it simply triggers standard Android system-level confirmation dialogs.
Gesture Navigation (EXPAND_STATUS_BAR): Enables user-friendly launcher gestures, such as swiping down on your home screen to expand the notification shade or quick settings.
App Inventory & Drawer Management: To display your installed applications within the launcher's app drawer, the App checks installed packages on your device locally. This information remains strictly in temporary device memory and is never transmitted, analyzed, or shared externally.
3. Integrated Third-Party Services & Advertising
While we do not harvest your private communications, the App incorporates industry-standard Software Development Kits (SDKs) from third-party partners to display advertisements and evaluate stability.
These external vendors may collect diagnostic and pseudo-anonymous telemetry (such as device model, OS version, advertising identifiers, and IP addresses) governed by their respective privacy terms:
4. Data Retention, Management, and Removal
Conversations, Contacts & Launcher Layouts: Your text messages, media attachments, contacts, and custom home screen configurations (shortcuts, folders, widgets) remain solely within your device's internal storage. Removing a conversation, resetting launcher settings, clearing application data, or uninstalling the App will erase these items locally.
Third-Party Telemetry: Technical data generated via third-party SDKs (such as crash diagnostics or advertising counters) is retained per the retention schedules established by those specific vendors..
5. Device Security Best Practices
Because all sensitive conversation and layout data lives locally on your Android device, overall security relies on the protections configured on your hardware. We advise enabling biometric authentication (fingerprint/face unlock) or a secure passcode to guard against unauthorized physical access to your device.
6. Protection of Minors
The App is designed for a general audience and is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or under the age of 16 where required by regional law). We do not deliberately solicit or gather personal data from minors. If you suspect an integrated SDK has inadvertently gathered data belonging to a minor, please contact us promptly so we can facilitate its removal.
