Cancellation Policy

In all programs offered by the Patriots' Path Council, BSA, a great deal of planning and purchasing takes place well in advance. These plans include, but are not limited to, staff, food, program materials, patches and awards, rental and purchase of equipment, and in some cases, items of clothing such as T-shirts that are given as part of a program fee.

When an individual or group make a reservation for an activity or program, these items are included in ordering of materials and staffing for that event.

The council reserves the right to cancel programs, as attendance or weather requires.

If the council cancels a program or closes a camp, the payment/deposit can be transferred to another program/available date or returned as requested.

If you decide to cancel your reservation/do not show up and the camp is open, there will be no refund or alternate date offered.

Refunds: Individuals or groups that cancel a program reservation 30 days prior to the date of the event will receive a refund of fees paid, less a 15% administrative charge. No refunds will be made after the 30 day cancelation deadline, unless there is a medical or other emergency.

FAQ's

Frequently Asked Questions at Mt. Allamuchy Scout Reservation:

Q: Do I need to bring firewood?  Can I bring firewood?

A: Firewood is provided at each campsite. Please do not bring firewood to the camp.

Q: Are there flushing toilets and showers at MASR?  Where are they?  Can they be accessed year round?

A: Bathrooms with flushing toilets and showers are available at the Somers Shower House.  The bathroom inside the Camp Somers Office/Trading Post is also open year round (no showers).  The Wheeler Office has a small bathroom with a flushing toilet. When selecting a cabin or campsite, please use the camp map to locate their proximity to these locations.   All cabins and campsites have a latrine with seasonal washing station nearby.  The OA Lodge has one bathroom inside the cabin.

Q: When does the water shut off for the season/get turned back on?  Where can I get water at camp when the seasonal water is not on?

A: See Ranger Notes above for water shut off dates. Water containers can be filled at the Dining Hall year round.

Q: Can the water at campsites be consumed or cooked with?

A:  Yes.

Q: All of the cabins and/or campsites are not available.  Does this mean the reservation system is not accurate?

A:  No.  If you have accessed our online reservation system, the bookings are up-to-the-minute up-to-date.  Most likely, if the date/weekend you are looking at is not available, the entire camp is being used for a District or Council event.  If you encounter this, please use the link below to see availability at our other camp, MASR, which is approximately 30 minutes away. You may call the Camping department at 973-765-9322 x 225 if you need assistance finding an available date.

Q: Are there bears or other animals at MASR?

A:  Occasionally, YES!  Our camps are located in an area of New Jersey that has a great variety of wildlife.  Please follow all protocol carefully.  Check with the camp ranger if you are not familiar.

Q: Can I drive up to my campsite? Can we bring a troop trailer?

A:  All cars should remain in the parking lot, located on the left as you arrive.  After check in at the Camp Office, one vehicle (troop trailer, etc) may be allowed to drive to the cabin or camp site.  This is allowed at the discretion of the Camp Ranger.
