Wrestlers have the option to pick between a Novice Clinic intended for first and second year wrestlers or an Advanced Clinic for more experienced participants.
MSWL wrestlers have been trained by Maryland All-time Greats, D-1 Head Coaches, NCAA Champions, Olympians and more!!! The first five sessions of each summer start with an hour-long clinic lead by some of the best coaches in the area. We try to secure local college coaches when possible. University of Maryland Head Coach Alex Clemsen has been a regular at the MSWL since taking over at UMD and former Terps Head Coach(and 2x Olympian) Kerry McCoy worked with us for many summers before leaving the area. Coaches from American University, George Mason, McDaniel, Elizabethtown(PA) and more have all come to the MSWL to coach-up our wrestlers. Check out our Past Clinicians page to see some of our history or the 2025 page to see who we have scheduled for this year!
Please Note - Elementary School aged wrestlers are encouraged to register with someone their size so they are sure to have a practice partner.
Open to rising grades 8-12.
1+ year of wrestling experience required.
After the conclusion of each weekly clinic, teams are assigned to mats for live dual meet wrestling. League teams are constructed keeping participants from the same home school or club team together while also attempting to spread wrestlers of different weights evenly across teams. Informal weigh-ins (in clothes) are held at the start of the summer for coaches to use as a reference but, weight classes are not used for parings. Coaches pair up wrestlers based on size, experience, and ability to try to ensure competitive matches for all wrestlers. Our goal is to get every wrestler at least two matches per evening with the potential for more.
Open to rising grades 2-12.
1+ year of wrestling experience recommended.
The final session of the summer is a round-robin tournament using Madison weights. Casual weigh-ins (in clothes) are held during check-in. Pools are created with 4-5 wrestlers when possible, ensuring each participant gets 3-4 matches. When weights are poorly represented, pools of three or 8-man double elimination brackets are occasionally used. Awards are provided to weight class winners!(choice of medal or t-shirt)
Please Note - We can usually only guarantee brackets for wrestlers 90 pounds and above. We are happy to organize brackets for smaller wrestlers but, it is dependent on participation.
