The Office of Municipal Social Welfare and Development is the Local Government's welfare arm, responsible for facilitating and implementing programs, projects, and services to eradicate poverty and enable disadvantaged individuals, families, and communities to live better lives.
Moreover, with its current purpose, the MSWDO must ensure that local governments prioritize devolved initiatives. These are not simply for compliance purposes, but also to address the current needs of marginalized groups, which must be considered. The office's vision is based on the agency's VMG, which states:
Develop a healthy, educated, empowered and peaceful citizenry who actively participate in economic development and respect the need to protect the environment.
The MSWDO gradually enlarged its mandate to include a variety of welfare programs catering to varied demographics such as Children & Youth Welfare, Family & Community Welfare, Women's Welfare, Differently Abled Welfare, and Senior Citizens' Welfare. Despite this expansion, the office maintained a consistent prioritization of AICS and the Day Care Service Cum Supplementary Feeding Program, with AICS receiving the majority of funding. So, the purpose of this paper is for us to have an opportunity to close any identified gaps we encountered during the implementation of the said programs.
