Hello Parents and Guardians of students in our science classes!
I host our daily classes in google meets. I post the link before class every day on our google classroom.
Your child's grade is 50% attendance and 50% work. If your child attends class every day but does not submit any work, they will have a 50% (F). Or, if your child submits all their work but does not attend live class, they will also have a 50%(F).
If you want to see your child's current grade in our class, check Infinite Campus or ask your child to show you their grade page in our google classroom.

To succeed in our science class, your student will need to have the following materials:
If you do not have such a computer, it is your students' right to have access to a school provided laptop, free of charge. I would be happy to help you in obtaining this necessary resource that will ensure your students' success. I will not penalize any student for not having this device if this process takes longer than the first two weeks, as long as they are actively communicating with me / Tennyson to get this device.
A notebook larger than this size, or with more pages, is totally fine. I was able to find a composition notebook meeting these requirements at Walmart for 50 cents. If money is an issue right now, please contact me and we can get you the supplies you need. Your student has the right to have access to the materials they need to learn.
I have colored pencils for all of my Earth science Students- but they need to come get them!
My intention as your student's teacher is to create a safe, inclusive learning space for students regardless of race, gender identity, sexual orientation, economic status, or immigration status. If you or your student feel that I have done something to violate this safe space, please do not hesitate to communicate your concerns with me- I appreciate the opportunity to reflect on my words and actions and make changes as necessary. If you do not feel comfortable raising the issue with me personally, I understand-- but I still encourage you to reach out to a staff member at Tennyson who you trust so that this information can be communicated with me. I want to "do right" by all of our Tennyson families and I am grateful for your communication.
Please understand that I am on your team- we all want success for our students. I am just one teacher, and I do not have control over our school schedule, policies, or how Tennyson or HUSD communicate information with you. I appreciate your patience and compassion as we navigate this year together.
If you would like to schedule a time to speak on the phone, on zoom, or in google meets, please refer to the calendar below. It would be my pleasure to speak with you and provide any support I can. Appointments are available in 15 minute slots, but you may book back-to-back slots if you would like to meet for longer. To book an appointment:
click on your desired time slot that says "available to meet"- a window will pop up.
In the section that says "where", write either "phone" or "meets" for your preference for the meeting.
In the "description" section, please write your name and email address and/or phone number
Underneath your name and contact information, please provide a brief description of why you would like to meet with me
Wait for my email with a google meets link if you chose that option, or expect my phone call at the time you called.
