3rd Grade

Assignment #4:

Hello Musicians!

We will now be learning more about the musical instrument families and the instruments that belong to them. Our first family of study will be the BRASS FAMILY.

Remember: Brass Instruments are grouped together as a family because they are made of metals (mostly brass) and you blow into them to create sound.

Please click on the google slide below to learn all about the most common instruments in the Brass Family:

Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, and Tuba

Follow the directions on the google slide to watch videos and to read more about each instrument. There are also videos in the google slide to teach you how the Brass Instruments create sound and videos of famous musicians playing Brass Instruments.

When you have completed all videos and readings in the google slide, return to the google classroom to complete the google form and turn in your assignment.

This is your first assignment in which you have to turn in work (the google form). Please make sure that the google form is completed so that you receive credit for the assignment.

Take your time to enjoy learning about these Brass Instruments. The due date for your completed google form and to submit your assignment is Monday, December 7th. If you have any questions, please make sure that you email me at evoye@theps108.com or comment on this assignment.

Have fun learning more about the brass instruments!

Assignment #3

Hello Musicians!

We are going to review our rhythm skills this week by listening to the piece, 'In the Hall of the Mountain King'. I have attached a google slide that contains a video of Ms. Voye reading the story aloud, a recording of a professional orchestra playing the piece, and a video of a group performing the piece using body percussion.

Remember: Body Percussion is clapping, snapping, patting your knees, and tapping your feet.

Watch the videos in the google slide, then watch the video of Ms. Voye performing body percussion along with the song; In the Hall of the Mountain King.

If you have any trouble viewing the google slide on this assignment, please view it on Ms. Voye's music website.

If you have any questions, please email Ms. Voye at evoye@theps108.com

In the Hall of the Mountain King

Assignment #2

Hello Students!

This week we are going to continue working on reading rhythms that use Ta (quarter notes) and titi (eighth note pairs). We will practice keeping these rhythms along with music by demonstrating body percussion: (clapping, snapping, stomping, and patting).

We will also create these rhythms by finding something around the house to use like rhythm sticks. Remember, when choosing something in your home to use like rhythm sticks, make sure that it is something you can tap together gently. For example, you can choose two markers to tap together, or 2 wooden spoons. Always ask an adult for help in choosing items if you have any questions.

Please click on the attached google slide and watch the attached videos as Ms. Voye leads you through body percussion and stick activities.

When you are finished practicing along with the rhythm video, please click submit to tell me that you have completed the activities. Be prepared to share out what you have learned at our google meets.

There is no written assignment to turn in this week.

Rhythm! Lesson #2

Assignment #1:

Hello Students!

This week our first activity will be a quick rhythm review using quarter notes (TA), and eighth notes (Ti Ti). Please watch the attached video. In this video, I show you several different rhythm cards that we will use the practice along with some music. The music that you will hear in the background is the song 'Autumn' by Vivaldi that we listened to in our google meets or in class. This rhythm practice should only take you a few minutes. You may practice along with this video more than once if you like. Be prepared to perform rhythms together as a class in our next class.
