Facility management, testing, overseeing operations
Collaboration, external partnership, and research
Dr. David A. Wallace is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Mississippi State University (MSU) and the director of the Paul B. Jacob High Voltage Laboratory—the largest university-based high-voltage testing facility in North America. With over two decades of industrial expertise, including 20 years as a test lab manager at Kuhlman Electric Corporation, Dr. Wallace bridges the gap between academic theory and real-world grid infrastructure applications. He holds a B.S., M.Eng., and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Mississippi State University, where his research focuses on high-voltage engineering, power system insulation, and lightning simulation. An award-winning educator, he specializes in hands-on student mentorship, industrial testing compliance, and advanced power system relay controls.
Dr. Seungdeog Choi is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Mississippi State University (MSU). He serves as MSU's Inaugural Energy Innovation Ambassador, leading cross-disciplinary research through the university's Energy Innovation and Resilience Hub. With an extensive background that includes industrial research roles at Toshiba International Corporation and LG Electronics, Dr. Choi specializes in power electronics, fault-tolerant controls, and the reliability and degradation modeling of batteries, electric vehicles, and microgrids. He holds roughly 20 patents and has published over 200 technical papers, including 90 peer-reviewed journal articles. Dr. Choi earned his B.S. from Chung-Ang University, his M.S. from Seoul National University, and his Ph.D. from Texas A&M University.
