Expectations:
Campaign Speech: 1-3 minutes stating why your organelle is the most important organelle.
The speech describes how awesome the organelle is, includes a visual, expertly addresses the relationship between structure and function.
Establishes a connection with the voter and explains why the organelle is crucial for survival.
A typed copy of an outline of the campaign speech is turned in on election day. All information is relevant.
May use a 1 slide PowerPoint/Canva “poster” as part of the campaign speech.
Campaign speech is at least 1 minute long and no more than 3 minutes.
Campaign Video: May speak positively about your organelle or negatively about other organelles. No more than 90 seconds)
The campaign addresses why the organelle is the most important organelle and discusses its structure and function.
May also include negative remarks about other organelles. Video length should only be no longer than 90 seconds.
Campaign Poster:
Must be finished and hanging in or around your teacher's classroom.
All posters must have the organelle/team's Twitter handle and names visible. poster and tries to convince the audience to vote for their organelle.
The poster creatively and positively uses images/slogan to provide support for organelle campaign.
Poster can be electronically created or made by hand. Up to two Posters may be displayed in the Biology “nook” and must be hanging no later than <insert date>.
Twitter: Create a twitter account for your organelle to use during the election cycle.
**Students will need to create an organelle email address to create a twitter account for their organelle.
Tweets should occur between the hours of 8 am and 8 pm.
Students need to share their twitter handle with the class and follow @MsBonebrake
All comments are original, thoughtful, relevant, and appropriate addressing organelle, not the students. Tweets use #.
Twitter campaign has at least 8 thoughtful tweets.
No hashtag? No credit for the tweet.

Reflection: Will occur at the conclusion of the Organelle Wars.
Day 1: Introduce project details
Day 2: Introduce the project details, find out partnerships, assign organelle, begin research
Day 3: Twitter Handles created and shared, Noodle Tools Set up, research and prep day
Day 4-5: Tim in class to: Tweet, Prep/create Posters (8.5 x 11 paper is fine)***, work on videos, write campaign speech
Day 6: Final preparations, posters need to be up by 1:30 pm.
Day 7 Campaign Day and election
Day 8: Reflections and grade for campaign collaboration
