Promoting GIS and Remote Sensing in Bangladesh

GIS and Remote Sensing (RS) are in the early stages of development in Bangladesh, and our lab at BSMRAU stands as the first and only facility utilizing these technologies in agriculture. So, as an approach to expand awareness and accelerate the adoption of this technology, I participated in interviews on some major television and news channels. As television and newspapers are widely accessible mass media, these efforts aim to bring this innovative technology to the forefront of smart farming in Bangladesh.

My Work : Building a Supportive Community for Women

During my time at university, I noticed a significant lack of facilities for female students, particularly regarding toilets and menstrual products. As a fellow student, I felt my peers' discomfort and the daily challenges they faced, which inspired me to take action. I decided to take a bold step and presented my innovative idea to the university authorities.

My proposal aimed to enhance the number of female toilets and introduce vending machines for menstrual products, addressing a crucial need for my peers. To my delight, the university not only took my project into serious consideration but also promised to work on implementing these changes.

This experience not only fueled my passion for advocating for women's rights in the workplace but also reinforced my belief in the power of proactive measures to tackle real-world problems. I aspire to continue advocating for women in my community and ensuring that they have equal opportunities in every environment in future too.

As a scientist, I believe that the ability to depict ideas is of immense importance. It's not enough to have an innovative and creative idea; you must also be able to illustrate it to others, convincing them and earning their trust in the credibility of the idea. Since my freshman year, I've been pondering why so many innovations exist at the research level, yet there's a lack of acceptance in the practical field.

I realized that we often lack the element of demonstration. People tend to believe what they can see. I personally believe that if you can't effectively depict an idea, it's not truly a complete idea. Therefore, since my freshman year, I have been dedicated to learning and practicing the art of illustration and demonstration using Adobe Illustrator, no matter how trivial the idea is. It always gives me a clear view of the whole thing.
