Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year, another great year of teaching and learning at Frederick Douglass High School!!! My name is Ms. Tianna Stroud and I am the Instructional Technology Specialist/ VILS Coach at FDHS.

My Educational Philosophy

Today’s young people are growing up at a time of unprecedented change and escalating challenges. It’s critical that students are prepared to be valuable contributing citizens of the world. Whether it is medicine, carpentry, or computer technology education allows us to take those necessary steps to achieve that goal. As a mom and educator, I believe education should emphasize not only academic development, but the education of the “whole child” –equipping students with social-emotional skills, critical thinking skills, and ethical virtues such as fairness and compassion. Education of the heart is a critical starting point.

“It takes a village to raise a child.” I believe parent involvement is essential to the success of the student. Keeping open communication in the school and home is a great way to prevent or solve many issues our high school students encounter. Communicating with each other in the school and community makes finding resources and materials as well as support, an easy process.
