Hello! My name is Julia Purrington (Ms. Purrington). I teach ACE, Contemporary Issues I & II, and Honors English 10.

About your teacher:

I was born here in Albuquerque, New Mexico but also spent a good amount of time of my childhood in a small town in Colorado. I have a BA in English and Philosophy from the University of New Mexico. Before this, I was a preschool teacher and fundraiser for a nonprofit helping young children in poverty. I was a substitute teacher so if you recognize me from previous years, come say “hi!” When I’m not reading, writing, or teaching, I enjoy listening to and playing music (I play three instruments), playing with my new dog Archie, and watching something new on Netflix.

Teaching Philosophy:

I love teaching because I was very lucky to have amazing teachers both in high school and college. These teachers pushed me to think outside of what I knew or what I was comfortable with and helped me grow into the person I am today. I believe that education is the foundation for all students to become intelligent, compassionate, and passionate individuals.
