What is Copyright and Fair Use?
Copyright:
Copyright is a form of trademark that, typically for a certain period of time, grants its owner the only authority to reproduce, distribute, adapt, display, and perform a creative work. The creative creation could be in the form of a song, painting, book, or instructional resource.
Fair Use:
The idea that certain situations allow for the verbatim quotation of brief passages of copyrighted work for uses including teaching, study, news reporting, and criticism without requiring consent from or payment to the copyright holder.
Avoiding Copyright in my Classroom:
Don't copy anything, stay away from non-virgin development, don't access previous design work, record your right to use, bargain for better warranty and indemnification terms, and keep track of your own work.
