Well after the Mets home stadium Citi Field became the Phillies House of Horrors. Citizens Bank Park Has almost become the Mets house of horrors and that could potentially be fully proven in the Postseason if the Mets reach it and play each other. This series was a disaster from the start… Monday’s game started with a 1–0 loss with an absolute Gem from Phillies Pitcher Aaron Nola. Nolan McLean still looked pretty good except for the 1 run allowed… Tuesdays game went a bit different. Phillies Pitcher Ranger Suarez like Nola the night before threw an absolute gem. This all led to the eventual 9–3 PHI win. Wednesday’s game didn’t get any better with a great pitching game from Cristopher Sanchez. As you can tell I’m not talking about the Mets much yet cause I can’t…. It was like we were ghosted until Thursdays first 2 innings. Then we got to Thirsday and things looked up in the 1st and 2nd inning. The Mets bats had gotten to Phillies pitcher Jesus Luzardo who has struggled in the past with an Above 4 ERA. The last time The Mets faced him he hadn’t pitched very well. Well that was very different this time around he pitched not so great the 1st and 2nd innings but then pitched a gem thru the 7th & 8th inning. He could’ve been close to a complete game. Then the Phillies bullpen got started and Jhoan Duran closed it out striking out Juan Soto,Pete Alonso & Mark Vientos to end the game. Phillies sweep the 4 game set in south Philadelphia and the Mets playoff hopes are looking dim. This was bad on all parts offensively and defensively and it’s just not gonna get you into the Postseason.
Carlos Mendoza was asked by SNY “ If there’s anything you can do to Reset the Mets”
“I’m Responsible. I’m the manager. It’s my job to get these guys going and I will”-Mets Manager Carlos Mendoza
David Peterson after his “ok start” had this to say
“We’ve got to play better. As simple as that. We’ve seen what this group can do. We’ve got 15 left to take care of business”-Mets LHP David Peterson
Yes the Mets NEED to take care of business and if they drop another 3 games to Texas this weekend. Then I would almost say Postseason is off the table. For some fans I may be too optimistic and I’m just trying to remain positive. If the Mets make the postseason they need to make it to the World Series or it wasn’t even worth it. It would absolutely suck to make the Postseason and get destroyed by the Dodgers First round. If the Mets do end up playing the Phillies again in the Postseason this year then I’d hope they step things up. Sort of like last year win 1 in Philly then 2 at Home. But yet again maybe I’m being too optimistic. I really don’t know, until I see this weekends series I’m not gonna be able to say for sure what is going to happen.
This is believe it or not probably gonna be one of the biggest series’ of the Season. This series I what makes or breaks The Mets Postseason hopes. Texas has been on a roll as of recent. However you have to remember the Mets are almost always better at Citi Field. Hopefully that continues and we can either take the series or sweep
From a pitching stand point every game except Fridays looks pretty good. I am very concerned about Jacob deGrom coming back to Queens and pitching a gem. Other than that I think it’ll be An ok series. The bats need to pick up Pete Alonso and Francisco Lindor recently have been slower and less trustworthy with the bats. Juan Soto is still on fire! He has been looking great and has officially joined the 30/30 club as of Tuesday I believe. Francisco Lindor looks to do the same at some point soon. He only needs 1 more stolen base to achieve that. In closing this Texas series again will be what makes or breaks the Mets postseason hopes. I hope it goes well and hope all is fine and we make the postseason after all.
Friday & Saturdays Games will be streamed live on SNY and the MLB App (Blackout Restrictions Apply)
Sundays Game Will be on WPIX (PIX11)
Both Games can be listened to on MetsRadio880 (WHSQ880 AM)
All 3 games will be played at Citi Field
It’s that time again. This time the Mets play the Phillies in a 4 Game set that is very important to the hopes of the Mets making the Postseason. The good news is the Mets currently hold a 4.0 Game lead over the Cincinnati Reds in the Wild Card Standings. The bad news is that they have to play the Phillies for 4 games at Citizens Bank Park, In Philadelphia, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Woo That’s ALOT of pressure. The good news is The Mets have been a good team against the Phillies this season especially at Citi Field which was deemed the Phillies “House Of Horrors” by NBC Sports Philadelphia. Now the last time the Mets played the Phillies in Philadelphia, PHI took the series 2–1. We have to hope that this time is different cause the Mets at this stage can not afford a sweep or a Phillies series win. Either Sweep them or Split it 2–2.
Nolan McLean who has been undeniably the best Mets pitcher in this race to the postseason since he’s been called up and he shined during his last outing against Philadelphia which was a Shutout 6–0 Mets Victory. Nolan McLean is going to be the one to look out for. Sean Manaea Has continued to struggle for the Mets recently however when he pitched against PHI he didn’t look half as bad as some of the other outings, he lead The Mets to a walk off 6–5 Victory last time These 2 teams met. Clay Holmes gets the mound On Wednesday against Cristopher Sanchez who the Mets lit up on The first game of that 3 game set back in August at Citi Field. Clay Holmes looked alright his last outing and hopefully he can continue that against Philly. Finally on Thursday David Peterson gets the mound and the Phillies have yet to determine a pitcher for Thursday. The pitching is going to be one of the main keys to keeping the Mets on the Road To the Postseason and not getting swept by this red hot Phillies team.
The Mets need to continue to stay hot with Their hitting if they’d like to escape Philadelphia with 2 or more wins. Pete Alonso,Francisco Lindor and Juan Soto continue to stay hot. We need to have the middle and bottom of the order be as hot as they are. Home Run’s,RBI’s and Hits are really needed during this 4 game set and the top of the order will deliver. Juan Soto his last time at Citizens Bank Park hit 2 home runs within the 4th and 5th Innings. The Mets on that June 21st Crushed the MLB record of 7 solo home runs in 1 game. Juan Soto specifically has always liked Citizens Bank Park he has 13 home runs at the park and 6 of those came in his rookie season with Washington. Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonso are also typically hot at Citizens Bank Park. So in closing as long as the hitting works well, they hit home runs, hit RBI’s and Base Hits then they should come out of this series with at least 2 of 4.
Continuing on from there the Mets have some of their best pitchers going at it. I think this will be a good series and hope it goes well for the Mets and we just hope the pitching goes along with the hitting.
-Nolan McLean makes his 2nd Start against Philadelphia Monday Night
-Juan Soto has always liked Citizens Bank Park and Hit 2 home runs in 1 night last time he was there
-Ranger Suarez Has been lights out in pitching and is unstoppable
-Kyle Schwarber has really started to wake up and hit a lot of home runs. Just a day after the Mets swept the Phillies Schwarber Hit 4 home runs in a single game
In closing this needs to be a well fought series and both teams need a few wins whether it’s the Phillies who want to try and bury the Mets again or it’s the Mets who want to Try for the NL East, this is going to be a very big series for both clubs.
Game 1 of 4 Monday September 8
Mets Win 5–3, Nolan McLean has 6 Shutout innings and the Mets defeat PHI 5–3
Game 2 of 4 Tuesday September 9
Mets Lose 6–4 Ranger Suarez pitches really really well and until the Mets get to the Phillies bullpen they only drive in 1–2 runs
Game 3 of 4 Wednesday September 10
Mets win 7–2 Cristopher Sanchez loses it again against Mets bats and Clay Holmes throws a pretty good game
Game 4 of 4 Thursday September 11
Mets Win 2–0 David Peterson has a shutout and the Mets take 3 of 4 in Philadelphia
The Mets have completed a 3 game sweep over their arch rival Philadelphia Phillies, who thought and it looked like they were gonna come into Citi Field and Bury and get rid of the Mets. The exact opposite happened…. LOL. The first game started out odd.
The Phillies began with 1 run and adding two others on in the 3rd and that would be all they would score. The Mets started to absolutely demolish them and that game ended 13–3 Final Score. Tuesdays Game went about the same way, the Phillies scored 2 first but then the Mets bats really picked up scoring 5 in the 5th inning. It wasn’t until a home run by Harrison Bader a former Met that it was tied. Luckily in the bottom of the 9th a walk off base hit by Brandon Nimmo ended the game and the Mets won again 6–5. Finally tonight’s game started off HOT Nolan McLean was the real story of tonight, he got through 8.0 scoreless innings. The Mets Bats continued to be hot scoring 3 in the 3rd,1 in the 5th and a Mark Vientos Home run into left field put the hammer down in the 8th inning. Brooks Raley closed out the game and the Mets shut out the Phillies 6–0 and Swept them back to the city of Philadelphia. Citi field has SERIOUSLY become the Phillies House of Horrors and it’s pretty hysterical. They are 0–8 since the 2024 Postseason and the Mets lead the season series 7–2. Much like the Mets at Truist Park the Phillies are not fond of Citi Field. One post on Twitter says “I’ve never thought I’d hate a building so much,Clipped with an Image of Citi Field. Another one says “Barring something happening in the postseason, we’re going to get GTA VI before the next Phillies win at Citi Field”. I don’t think I’ve seen this many negative Phillies fans in a while. Anyways Citi Field is a house of horrors for the Phillies and it’s just funny now. The next time the Mets meet the Phillies is at Citizens Bank Park in September where hopefully they can start to creep up on the Phillies and Win an NL East. The Mets have an off day before they meet another NL East Team the Miami Marlins. Another good stat to look at is The Phillies have Lost 10 straight games at Citi Field…. So yeah this stadium is the Phillies worst nightmare. The Mets Sweep the Phillies for the 2nd time this season both at Citi Field in Queens,NY
after an absoulutley outstanding outing by Pitcher Nolan McLean. McLean now posts an incredible 0.89 ERA McLean Now owns the Lowest ERA in Major League Baseball. Kodai Senga had a pretty good outing Monday only giving up 3 Runs. Sean Manaea Looked better than he has recently giving up a few runs and again McLean looked incredible tonight. Nolan McLean will be a Nightmare for some other teams coming into these games against the Mets.
The Mets will not want to forget about this series against Philadelphia but need to keep it going against Miami and then into next week against the Detroit Tigers and Cincinnati Reds. The Reds Specifically are 4.0 Games back behind the Mets in the NL Wild card, so the Mets need to continue to win Ballgames and they need to play well against the Reds if the Mets want a chance at October Baseball, which it’s looking pretty good right now. The Mets then Meet the Phillies again but this time it’s at That Stadium in South Philadelphia, The Mets last time at Citizens Bank Park went 1–2 with an incredible outing on June 21st. But we hope that they either sweep or at least take 2 of 3 from the Phillies and Keep nudging toward October baseball. So that’s a look at the next 2 weeks of New York Mets Baseball.

The Mets are looking to go strong into this 4 game set and after this huge sweep over the Phillies it’s looking good. That’s all for this blog, Follow Us here on Medium,You can also find this blog on the MSNNY Wesbite Linked Here. LGM!
The Mets are back in Queens this week starting out a 7 Game homestand with a 3 game set against their arch rival Philadelphia Phillies. Things are starting to heat up in the National League East as the Mets are now 7.0 Games back behind Philadelphia. The Phillies are really coming into this series to basically finish off the Mets as some of their fans are saying even though there is another 4 game set between these 2 in September back in Philadelphia. Anyways Going into this tough 3 game series for the Mets this is a series this team wants to and needs to perform well in. The last time these 2 teams met in Flushing was toward the end of April. The Mets swept the Phillies at home sending them back to Philadelphia with sad faces. They then met the Phillies in South Philadelphia on June 20th,21st and 22nd. The Mets took 1 game out of 3 on June 21st when they absolutley blew out the Phillies team they won that game 11–4. The friday and sunday games were not so pretty. I was glad to have been in person for the giant 11–4 Mets win. The Current season series is at 4–2 with the Mets leading it at the moment. Going into this week its going to be a gritty and tough matchup. Mondays Game (I will be at) is almost sold out according to the Mets ticketing website. Im sure there will be a decent amount of annoying Phillies fans but im expecting a majority of Mets fans out in Queens the next 3 days. We could be looking at 2 playoff teams or maybe 1 playoff team. These are 2 pottentially very good teams and we could be in for some good games the next 3 days.
The Mets have recently been struggling as every other baseball team does. However you always hope that these struggles come at the start of the season… Not mid to end August getting dangerously close to September and in the near future October Postseason baseball. They Fortunately took the series from the Atlanta Braves but the recent pitching struggles specifically Reed Garret and Ryan Helsley. Another worry out of the Bullpen is Ryne Stanek and kind of worried about Gregory Soto although i really have little to none worry for him. Starting pitching has been pretty ok recently especially Nolan McLean who for his first 2 starts has almost looked like an ace posting a 1.46 ERA and 0.81 WHIP. Clay Holmes looked fantastic his last outing, Kodai Senga had slight struggles his last outing but his ERA is still on the lower side which is good. Sean Manaea is my biggest pitching concern at the moment. He has not looked like the Sean Manaea from last season he posts a 5.15 ERA and 1.12 WHIP. Alot different than last year.
Ultimately if the Mets wanna come out with at least 2 out of 3 wins in this Mets-Phillies series they have to start hitting the ball better. This means more home runs from Guys like Pete Alonso who has latley cooled down, Francisco Lindor who has hit good but not many home runs and more of the bottom of order guys. This is how the Mets can beat the Phillies out of Queens.
The Mets Are coming off a 3 game,2 Win series against the Milwaukee Brewers. The Mets had a pretty well fought series against the Brewers as they took 2 out of 3. The first game was an honestly good one until a Grand Slam hit by Joey Ortiz. Unfortunately the Mets were the first ones to give up a Grand Slam To Brewers Shortstop Joey Ortiz. From there on the Game just got ugly. The final score was 7–2 Brewers Win. Game 2 went more of the Mets way, Note that these 2 games were played on the same day. Brandon Nimmo gave the Mets fireworks as he hit a Grand Slam ultimately giving the Mets the lead and a 7–3 Win at the end. The 3rd and Final game went the Mets direction as well. Since switching Francisco Lindor to the 2nd Spot in the lineup the Mets have gone 2–0. They Won the 3rd game 3–2. Now the Mets move on to their cross city rivals from the Bronx The New York Yankees. Anytime the Yankees come to Queens it’s a fun and exciting time! Last time the Mets faced the Yankees was earlier in May where the Mets unfortunately dropped 2 out of 3. Juan Soto the former Yankee was greeted with Boo’s And some signs that pictures are attached below (See on Medium.com)
The Mets and Juan Soto felt the pain from this and From Yankee Stadium, they ended up dropping 2 of 3 to The Other New York Team. Now on a fresh clean slate another 3 game set against the Yankees but this time in Queens. Yet both teams all of a sudden are struggling. The Mets have had almost all of their starting pitchers listed on the IL and the Yankees are coming off a Sweep from the Blue Jays in Toronto. So this could turn into an interesting series. At the Moment the Mets do not have pitchers for Games 1 and 3 but Frankie Montas will take the Mound Saturday in what last time was a rough outing for Montas. This has been a really rough stretch losing a lot of Mets pitchers Including Kodai Senga,Griffin Canning,Paul Blackburn,Tylor Megill and Sean Manaea still being out. In the Meantime it’s looking like Justin Hagenman Will start Fridays Game and Brandon Waddell will start Sundays Game. But again this is To Be Determined/To Be Announced. Meanwhile Yankees pitching is Yankees pitching tonight against Marcus Stroman could be good looking at his ERA but the rest of the weekend could be tough. Again you can’t just look at the ERA but it’s a good sign. Carlos Rodon will take the Mound for The Yankees Saturday then A familiar foe of Max Fried will take the mound Sunday. All in all this is looking like to shape up to be a pretty good series that I look forward to. These 3 games will be Played at Citi Field in Flushing,NY and will be streamed on SNY and Can be listened to On MetsRadio880 or WFAN.
