Welcome to the Classroom!

Hi! My name is Ms. Derr and I am excited to be on the 1st grade team at Bob LaBrea Elementary! I am thrilled to be your child's teacher and I cannot wait to be part of their journey of learning and fun. I look forward to learning all about your child as we spend the school year together!

I was born in Myerstown, Pennsylvania and I went to college at Kutztown University, where I received both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees. I was a dental assistant for many years until I decided to become a teacher. I currently live with my cat, Trixie, and my dog, Molly. I enjoy painting, crocheting, and reading when I’m not teaching.

There is a lot your child and I will be learning together this year! My favorite subjects to teach are language arts and science. We will have a lot of adventures in the classroom, so remind your child to bring their thinking caps! I cannot wait to meet your child and start our year together!
