We will have 2 opportunities for a snack each day. The first option falls during the first scheduled recess. The second is after specials. Your child does not need to have 2 snacks with them at school but will have the option of when they would like to have it based on their hunger.

Late start on Fridays

Iron Horse will have a 45-minute late start every Friday starting August 21st. We follow a late start schedule. Soft start is from 9:15 to 9:20. The tardy bell will ring at 9:20. As a class, we will follow the same schedule as usual, except there will be no morning meeting and no double specials. This late start provides equitable, dedicated time for Professional Learning Communities across the school staff.

Frequently Asked Questions:

• Transportation: All school buses, including special education buses, will start 45 minutes later on Fridays. Bus routes will run exactly 45 minutes later.

• Child Care: Iron Horse students will still have access to Before and After School Education (BASE) on Friday mornings.

• School Breakfast: Breakfast will still be offered to students.

• Preschool: There will be no impact on preschool schedules. Currently, preschool staff already use Friday mornings for planning and PLCs.

Our first PLC Friday is August 21st. Our bell will ring at 9:15 am (soft start) and 9:20 am final bell.
