Markus Simeth

I am associate professor in the Department of Strategy and Innovation (SI) at Copenhagen Business School (CBS). My research interests lie in the field of innovation management and strategy, and I am particularly curious about R&D collaboration, intellectual property rights, corporate science and R&D disclosures, the mobility of knowledge workers, and financing innovation. My research has been published in top-tier scholarly outlets such as Management Science, Research Policy, and the Journal of Corporate Finance. My research has been generously supported by the Independent Research Fund Denmark (DFF).

I am executive board member and treasurer of the EPIP association, which is an independent, non-profit scholarly organization that is concerned with research and policy on intellectual property rights. I am also research fellow of the Danish Finance Institute (DFI).

At CBS, I am study line coordinator of the MSc program "Business Administration and Bioentrepreneurship (BIO)" and teach courses at various academic levels (bachelor, master, PhD) related to innovation management, strategy, marketing, and entrepreneurship.

I received my PhD in Management of Technology from the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). Prior to joining CBS, I worked as assistant professor at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) from 2015 - 2017, and as a post-doctoral fellow (financed by the Swiss National Science Foundation) at KU Leuven in 2014 and 2015. During the spring term 2023, I made research visits at IE Business School Madrid and Pompeu Fabra University Barcelona.
