Hi! I'm Holly Cook, and I serve as the Special Education Director and a Special Education Teacher at Scholar Academy. I joined the Scholar family in 2021 and have been teaching Special Education here since the 2022–2023 school year. In January 2025, I stepped into the role of Special Education Director, which has given me the opportunity to support not only students and families, but also our amazing teachers and staff.
When I'm not at school, you'll usually find me spending time with my husband and family. We have four daughters and two adorable granddaughters who call me "Meemaw"—my absolute favorite title by far! They currently live in Virginia, where their dad is stationed in the Navy, so I don't get to see them as often as I'd like. Thankfully, we live in the age of FaceTime, and Amazon delivery. I LOVE watching them grow, hearing about their latest milestones, and making memories whenever we get the chance to be together.
Our two oldest daughters are off building lives and adventures of their own, while our youngest two still keep our home busy. We also have two dogs, Callie and Winnie, who are very spoiled members of the family and never miss an opportunity for attention or a cozy spot on the couch.

Believer that every student can do hard things
I believe every student can learn, grow, and be successful when they have the right support and people who believe in them. My goal is to help students build confidence, independence, and the skills they need to be successful at school and beyond.
That might look like working with students in small groups, helping them learn a new skill in a different way, breaking big tasks into manageable steps, providing accommodations, practicing social or self-advocacy skills, or simply being a safe person to encourage them when things feel hard. I love helping students recognize their strengths, celebrate their progress, and discover that they can do hard things.
My week is usually a mix of small group instruction, reading and math support, progress monitoring, classroom collaboration, IEP meetings, and problem-solving with teachers and families. No two days are exactly the same, but every day is focused on helping students learn, grow, and feel successful.
How can I contact you?
Email is usually the best way to reach me. I do my best to respond within one school day.
How often will I receive updates on my child's progress?
Families receive regular progress updates based on their child's IEP schedule. I am also happy to discuss progress throughout the year as needed.
What does Special Education support look like?
Support looks different for every student. It may include small group instruction, classroom support, accommodations, specialized instruction, behavior support, depending on IEP goals.
What should I do if I have concerns about my child's progress?
Please reach out! Open communication helps us work together to support your child and address concerns early.
How are IEP goals monitored?
Student progress is regularly tracked through observations, classroom performance, assessments, and progress-monitoring data.
Can I request a meeting at any time?
Absolutely. Families are important members of the educational team and may request a meeting whenever they have questions or concerns.
