My Classroom Philosophy
Every child can learn.
My job is to figure out how each student learns best and help them build on their strengths. Learning isn't always easy, but challenges give us opportunities to grow.
I also believe laughter belongs in learning. A sense of humor helps us solve problems, build relationships, and remember that mistakes are simply part of getting better. I make mistakes too, and that's okay—we learn from them together.
Welcome! I’m Ms. Eileen, and I’m excited to be starting my second year at Scholar Academy. This year, I will be supporting students in grades 1–3 through special education services.
I have wanted to be a teacher since I was a little girl, especially working with students with hearing impairments. My first teaching job was in special education, and I’ve loved helping students learn in their own unique ways ever since.
I earned my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Audiology, along with my teaching certificate, from the University of Utah. I also earned my Administration and Leadership in Education certificate from Southern Utah University.
One of my absolute favorite parts of teaching is listening to students read. My second favorite? Teaching them how to become readers. Watching students discover confidence through reading is one of the greatest rewards of this job.
Here's a little peek into life outside the classroom!
🐾 My sidekicks: My two four-legged children, Milo and Missy. Missy joined my family after my mom passed away last year. I absolutely adore her... Milo is still deciding if he does.

Superhero fan? Absolutely.
If there's a superhero movie playing, there's a good chance I've already seen it... probably more than once.
I bleed red and love the Utah Utes.
Favorite movies:
Pretty much anything with Chris Evans. (He may or may not know we're secretly dating. Don't believe those marriage rumors—they're clearly fake.)

Sleeping (it's basically my superpower)
Hidden talent:
Ordering random things on Amazon or Facebook Marketplace while I'm half asleep... and then being surprised when they show up a few days later.
Favorite food:
Anything with cheese. If cheese is involved, I'm interested.
Favorite drink:
An oatmilk chai with caramel in the cup, caramel syrup, whipped cream... and yes... even more caramel.
Least favorite food:
Coconut. Hard pass.
Fun fact:
I'm allergic to garlic, which makes me pretty sure I'm actually a vampire. It's been a rough life.
Bucket List Adventure:
Swim with sharks—without a cage! They're fascinating animals that deserve a better reputation.
One thing you'll learn about me:
I believe laughter belongs in every classroom. Learning is hard work, but it should also be fun. I love celebrating student successes, laughing together, and helping kids realize they're capable of more than they ever imagined.
In our classroom, we use our superpowers every day:

Mistakes are not failures. They are opportunities to learn, grow, and try again.
What Parents Can Expect
I believe every child can learn, and every child deserves instruction that helps them grow in confidence and independence. My classroom is a place where students are supported, encouraged, and celebrated for the progress they make—no matter how big or small.
As your child's special education teacher, I provide specialized instruction that is designed around each student's individual IEP goals. This may include small-group or one-on-one instruction, explicit teaching of reading and foundational skills, accommodations and supports, progress monitoring, and collaboration with classroom teachers to help students be successful throughout the school day.
