Hello and welcome to 1st grade!
My name is Ms. Coonts and I will be your teacher for the 2021-2022 school year. I hope you have had a wonderful summer so far, and are just as excited as I am to learn and grow together.
In 1st grade we will engage in our learning to promote creativity, and enhance our critical thinking and problem solving skills. We will learn to be effective readers, writers, mathematicians, and scientists. We will do all of this while maintaining a high spirited, positive attitude. It’s going to be an amazing, fun-filled year!!
To tell you a little bit about myself, in May 2021 I graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. I had the opportunity to student teach in a 2nd grade classroom, and I also completed two semester long practicums in a 2nd grade, and 4th grade classroom. I am excited to embark on my new journey as a teacher here at Mammoth Heights! In my free time, I love to swim. I have been swimming competitively my whole life and have been a swim coach for the past 8 years where I’ve coached kids from ages 5 to 17. Throughout my college career I swam on UNC’s club swim team, and I was also the chapter president of my sorority, Alpha Omicron Pi. A fun fact about me is that I am a triplet! I love spending time with my family, friends, and my sweet dog Josie!
