National Technical University of Athens (NTUA)

National Technical University of Athens is the oldest and largest Technical University in Greece, with a total number of about 8500 undergraduate and 1500 graduate students. NTUA is currently involved in 36 H2020 projects, including 8 SCA actions. In 4 of them NTUA is acting as a coordinator. NTUA is divided into nine academic Schools, and will participate in the programme by an interdisciplinary team of researchers from two schools (Civil and Mechanical Engineering) and 3 independent research units/laboratories.

University of Trento (UNITN)

The Department of Civil, Environmental and Mechanical Engineering (DICAM) pursues high level scientific and teaching objectives, regarding research and training, in line with the most important research-intensive universities. The Department also promotes significant interrelations with public authorities and private companies, at local, national and international level. The mission of the Department is laid down in the following specific targets: i) the promotion of research in key areas of Engineering; ii) the training of engineers and researchers of the future generations. SWISS FEDERAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (ETH)

The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETHZ) is one of the leading universities for technology and the natural sciences worldwide, currently (2017) ranking 10th in the World University Ranking of Times Higher Education. Founded in 1855, ETH Zurich today has more than 18,000 students (3,900 doctoral students), and 498 professors. With 42 chairs, distributed across 10 Institutes, the ETHZ Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering is focused on interdisciplinary collaboration and cutting-edge research.

Centre National Recherche Scientifique (CNRS)

The French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) is a government-funded research organization under the authority of French Ministry in charge of research. CNRS is the main fundamental research organization in Europe largely involved in national, European and international projects covering all fields of knowledge. In the INSPIRE project CNRS is represented by the Fresnel Institute (UMR 7249), a Joint Research Unit of CNRS, Aix-Marseille University and Centrale Marseille. which carries out research on four topics: electromagnetism and metamaterials, nanophotonics and optical components, data processing and random waves and, finally, advanced and living imaging. Institut Fresnel host about 175 people, amogst whom 95 are permanent staff (researchers, university teachers, technicians, engineers and secretaries).

Institut d'Electronique, Microélectronique et Nanotechnologie, Université de Lille, (USTL)

The "Institut d'Electronique, Microélectronique et Nanotechnologie” (IEMN) at Université de Lille has a total staff of over 500 persons, half of them being permanent. The research activity covers a broad area from the physics of materials and nanosciences to instrumentation with five major interconnected topics: Materials and nanostructures, Micro-technology and Microsystems, Micro-nano and opto-electronics, Telecommunications, Acoustics. The research area includes long, medium and short term researches as well as industrial collaborations. The institute is in possession of several facilities for design, fabrication and characterization of micro and nanostructures (in particular 1600m2 of clean-room).

TECHNISCHE UNIVERSITAET KAISERSLAUTERN (TUK)

TUK is a medium-size state university in Rhineland-Palatinate in Germany comprising 12 departments from the fields of engineering, natural sciences, social sciences and economics. Its location is distinguished by the presence of several reknown external research institutes, including two Fraunhofer Institutes and the German Research Institution for Artificial Intelligence. The university is involved in a number of international collaborations and successfully participated in projects funded under several EU Framework Programmes. It has gathered valuable experience both as coordinator and partner. Funding through EU Framework Programmes complements funding by national funding agencies as well as industrial partners. TUK has been well established, and provided good service as the host institution for young and experienced scientists alike.

UNIVERSITY OF BOLOGNA (UNIBO)

UNIBO stands among the most important institutions of higher education in EU. UNIBO offers 51 PhD/Doctoral degree programs and 64 Master's degree programs. UNIBO ranks 2nd University in Italy and 37th in Europe in the ranking of top 50 Higher or secondary education organizations in FP7 signed grant agreements in terms of counts of participations (EC 7th Monitoring Report). In H2020, UNIBO is involved in 152 funded projects (53,25 Mil€ granted), 31 of which are MSCA projects (16 ITN -3 of which coordinated by UNIBO-, 8 RISE -3 of which coordinated by UNIBO, 2GF, 4 EF, 1 NIGHT coordinated by UNIBO). According to the DG EAC (April 2014) UNIBO ranks 1st University in Italy participating in MCA. This project will be hosted by the Department of Civil, Chemical, Environmental and Materials Engineering (DICAM), that aggregates research skills and laboratory facilities of diverse but interrelated engineering branches such as Structural, Transport, Hydraulic, Survey and Territory Engineering, Applied Chemistry and Materials Science, Chemical, Mining, Petroleum and Environmental Engineering.

University of Mons (UMONS)

The University of Mons (UMONS) is a new Belgian university located in the city of Mons, created by merging various faculties, including the Faculty of Engineering of Mons (FPMs. The latter is one of the oldest faculties of engineering in Belgium. UMONS is the fourth university of the French community of Belgium with about 5,700 students. The results of the 2nd Edition of U-Multirank (released on 2015) awarded UMONS with very good scores: it is among the 12% of the 1200 higher education institutions evaluated which have a performance rating of “very good”, with more than 10 “A” scores. UMONS comprises over 700 researchers and more than 100 research departments, and represented by 10 research institutes each embracing the expertise of 50 to 100 researchers

Rina Consulting S.p.A. (RINA)

RINA is a global corporation providing engineering and consultancy services, as well as testing, inspection and certification across the Energy, Marine, Certification, Transport & Infrastructure and Industry sectors through a global network of 3.700 talented professionals, operating in 170 offices in 65 countries. Within RINA, engineering and consulting services are provided by Rina Consulting, which will be the entity in charge of the activities in INSPIRE. In particular the Oil&Gas Division, within the Energy Business Line will be involved in the activities related to geotechnics, seismic hazards analysis and geotechnical studies.

FIP INDUSTRIALE S.r.l (FIP)

FIP INDUSTRIALE S.r.l. was set up in 1945 as a trading company to distribute technical items for the building, hydro-electric and highway sector. Today it works with state-of-the-art technologies within the civil engineering field, especially in the road and highway, railway, underground, civil and industrial buildings sectors, dams, oil platforms and port facilities, supplying high-quality products and services. In detail, the strengths of the company are the production of structural bearings, anti-seismic devices as viscous dampers and isolators, expansion joints, and fitting for tunnels. Most of its products are the result of research performed in its laboratories: over 30% of its personnel is highly qualified and every year the company invests approximately 10% of its turnover in research programs. INGENIEURGESELLSCHAFT DR.-ING. FISCHBACH mbH (IGF) is a well-established German design company that has about 30 years of experience in analysis/design of structures for industrial plants, such as Oil & Gas. In addition to working with prominent European companies in the petrochemical/chemical sector, like Shell, Bayer , Infraserv, INEOS and Basell , it also actively interacts with countries outside Europe, e.g. China. IGF has the expertise to carry out all phases of structural design -from planning to producing detailed drawings for the execution of construction- using various FE and other design tools, e.g. RSTAB, InfoCAD and Frilo.
