Below is a list of all online software and services that students will be using throughout the school year. These are essential for accessing class information, obtaining and submitting assignments, practicing and mastering math concepts, and communicating with me and other students.
Please take the time to familiarize yourself with each of these services, as your student may be utilizing each of these within the first week of classes.
If you have any further questions about the use or access to any of these sites, please contact me at chloemaychan@gmail.com.
All students are assigned a Google Suite account, which is their brisbanesd.org gmail account. With their gmail account, students have access to their Google Classroom, Gmail, Calendar, and various document editing sites.
Gmail is where students access their email accounts; important messages from the principal, staff, and updates from Google Classroom will all be received in their email account. Please ensure that your student checks their school email account at least once daily.
Google Classroom holds all student assignments, announcements, grades, and feedback. This site is vital for students to access their assignments.
Google Calendar holds student's daily calendar, listing the time and duration of all class meetings, clubs, and After-School activities. All Virtual Zoom Meeting links will be posted in the description for a given calendar event.
Google Drive organizes all of your student's Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and other files they've created or edited for school, such as homework assignments.
Nearpod is a Student Engagement Platform--a site for students to actively participate in online learning.
Nearpod lessons combine presentations with activities, videos, and tasks for students to engage with online. These Lessons are perfect for a student to follow along during distance learning, or as a mini-lesson to watch and review on their own in a flipped classroom.
Engaging activities, an inclusive environment, and giving students the chance to take ownership of their own learning are key benefits to using Nearpod for online lessons.
Zoom is the video communications software we use to hold distance learning Virtual Meetings.
All school Virtual Meetings will be held via Zoom, which will be password protected. Zoom doesn't require a login or account; students just need to download the program/app to their computer/phone. Our class has strict Zoom Meeting Expectations, which will be enforced to ensure a safe online environment.
