Ms. Bracknell's Resource Site

About Me!

My name is Adrianne Bracknell. My students tend to call me Ms. B. I am an educator of exceptional children. I typically work with elementary students and preschool is my current preference. I currently live in the Clarksville, TN/Fort Campbell, KY area.

Techie

I love to use technology to enhance my teaching abilities! I have used several programs and other softwares throughout my teaching career. I have used Read Naturally for my 3rd and 4th grade resource group. We also utilized Google Read & Write to complete classroom assignments. I have used BoardMaker and other visual images to help create communication boards and visual schedules. Within my special needs preschool class, I created a visual choice board within SmartNotebook that the students could touch a picture and a prerecorded voice would model appropriate requesting language. Throughout all of my teaching settings, I have used many Google offerings such as Classroom, Drive, Docs, and Forms to work with my students as well as communicate with my parents and families. I have used iPads with Proloquo To Go to help improve my student's communication and language abilities. I have collaborated with other teachers using 3-D pens and stop motion video to help students create a final product after a lesson.

Personal Life

I was born and raised in Dixie Carter's hometown. I am married to my high school sweetheart, Jeremy. He has recently retired from the U.S. Army with over 21 years in service. We have two boys, Jaycub and Lukus. Jaycub has enlisted in the U.S. Army and is currently at his first duty station in Texas. Lukus, our 6 foot 4 baby of the family, is in his third year of high school and is quickly coming into his own after becoming a “band geek” and attaining his Eagle rank in boy scouts. We also have an Okinawa stray rescue doggie, Hannah, and she is deaf.

Teaching Experience

I graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Education with a minor in Special Education. I obtained three Tennessee teaching licensees: Elementary K-8, Special Education Modified K-12, and Special Education Early Childhood PreK to 1st. Due to following my husband's career, I have taught at public schools in Tennessee and Department of Defense schools in Okinawa, Japan and Kentucky. I have taught on and off for a total of eleven years in only elementary positions. I have also chosen to quit teaching and return to substitute teaching or tutoring when we were in Texas and Colorado due to the states not accepting my current teaching license. Both times were only for about a year, and I was not willing to go through the licensure process all over again. There were also 7 months where I decided to be a paraeducator for a high school severe and profound classroom. I have taught 3rd grade general education, K-1 and K-2 self-contained special education, resource K-5, inclusion K-5, social emotional interventionist, and preschool for students with special needs. At the end of the 20-21 school year, I resigned my position in order to pursue my Masters in Education: Curriculum and Instruction: Special Education before my husband retired from the Army. After attaining my degree, I worked at Minglewood Elementary for a year while awaiting my opportunity to rejoin DoDEA.
