Maker spaces are designed by educators to create a classroom setting that incorporated the use of technology and developing new projects. Maker spaces came about as a result of the maker movement which has pushed the integration of teaching students to utilize different tools and create something new. The purpose behind encouraging students to design and build is to provide them with a hands-on experience to learn from the process of producing and problem-solving. In order for students to get the most out of these experiences, teachers must create a learning environment that is equipped with the materials, resources, and activities to do so.

When I think about my future classroom I see a room with lots and lots of materials for building and creating. I want to provide my students with any supplies necessary to allow their visions to come to life. In my classroom, I also see posters of famous inventors and quotes about the process that goes into developing new products and allowing the process of inventing to teach them along the way. I will also provide a designated area for students to work at, close to the materials they might need, computers for conducting research and planning, and a spot to leave their work so they can return to it another day if necessary.
Providing a survey for students to understand how they use technology and any prior experience they have with building and inventing projects before coming into the classroom.
Develop projects that will promote a maker mindset and allow students to become empathic towards what people need and know-how our inventions can make their lives better.
Help students to recognize that they have the potential to create anything they put their minds to. Allow them to see that making mistakes is part of the learning process for developing new and better ideas.
