Copyright policies are what protect creators and authors origional works. These laws are in place so that authors, creators, etc, are protected as well as their works. With fair use, we are able to take quotes from writers to add them in things such as reports, essays, speeches. While we do not necessarily need the authors permission to do so, we still must cite our findings if they are not our own.
