Muhammad Sirajo Abdullahi was born and raised in Sokoto metropolis. He is the grandson of Sarkin Gona I, Muhammadu Sunnah Bankanu, and the son of the current Sarkin Gona of Sokoto, Abdullahi Bankanu Muhammad. He holds the traditional title of Mainan Sarkin Gona of Sokoto. His maternal grandfather is Liman Muhammadu Dansalmu.

Professionally, Dr. Abdullahi works in the Department of Mathematics at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto. He earned his PhD in Applied Mathematics from King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi, co-supervised by Prof. P. Kumam and Prof. P.C. Staecker. During his PhD, Dr. Abdullahi was a Petchra PraJom Klao Research Scholar and worked on digital topology and topological fixed point theory and their applications. He has research interests in topology, geometry, algebra, and their intersections. Currently, his interests lie in applied and computational topology, bioinformatics, and computational biology. Dr. Abdullahi is also a C2F postdoctoral fellow in the Faculty of Science at Chulalongkorn University, working on applications of topological data analysis in cancer biology.
