Your state support team expands your leadership team to add specially trained educator experts to work on your efforts to improve climate and learning outcomes for all students. The state support team uses research-based practices to help you build custom solutions for your central office staff, building administrators and teachers and partners with your team to design concrete measures. These solutions boost organizational efficiency.

Specifically, your state support team provides coordination and support for common barriers in school improvement and services for low-performing students.

The Local School Advisory Team (LSAT) is a group of elected and appointed members that exists for every DCPS school. The team (formerly the Local School Restructuring Teams) consists of parents, teachers, non-instructional school staff, a community member, and in some cases students, to advise the principal on matters that promote high expectations and high achievement for all students.

Local School Advisory Teams are a key lever to increasing transparency at DCPS and ensuring decisions affecting school communities are made collaboratively with the help of a diverse group of school stakeholders. As such, every District of Columbia public school must have a functioning LSAT that is constituted according to the LSAT Guidelines, and that conducts the business outlined therein.

The LSAT Toolkit provides school leaders and LSAT members with guidance, information and resources to support their work. It is updated throughout the school year and includes LSAT Guidelines, FAQs, templates, and recorded webinars.

Behavioral threat assessment is a best practice for helping to identify potential threats in K-12 schools and school districts. Behavioral threat assessment and management provides a proactive, evidence-based approach for identifying individuals who might pose a threat to themselves or others and for providing intervention before an incident occurs.

HB 605 mandates that the Center for Safer Schools shall develop guidance for threat assessment teams for public schools. The CFSS shall develop the guidance by collecting information and best practices from schools with existing threat assessment teams and consulting with the Task Force for Safer Schools, Disability Rights North Carolina, North Carolina School Psychology Association, SBI and relevant state government agencies.

HB 605 also will establish peer-to-peer student support programs at all schools with grades 6 and higher. Schools are encouraged to implement peer-to-peer student support programs as appropriate in other grades.

Note: Schools needed at least 25 years in the top division of football, which may have predated the separation of teams into the FBS and FCS levels, to qualify for this list. That explains the inclusion of one school on this list, whose presence may come as a surprise to many.

The Michigan State Police, Grants and Community Services Division, Prevention Services Section, provide school liaison training for sworn officers and school liaison officers working with youth. Teaching, Educating, and Mentoring (T.E.A.M.) training focuses primarily on a proactive effort to make schools and communities safer, and on promoting responsible citizenship and positive character traits among students in grades K-12. Officers attending this training receive a 40-hour training program that introduces them to over 30 lesson plans they are able to personalize and present in their communities. Essential information regarding school violence, public speaking, school and community relations, and current trends are discussed. In addition to the teaching curriculum, officers receive training from content experts in student and juvenile psychology, classroom management, bullying and harassment, and school safety issues. This curriculum compliments the Michigan Model for Health Curriculum utilized by all schools in the state of Michigan. MCOLES REGISTERED

The high school field hockey landscape is separated into 10 separate regions: Massachusetts, Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, New Jersey, New York, Northern New England, Pennsylvania, South, Southern New England, and West. Each NFHCA region receives up to 16 First Team selections and Second Team selections are reflective of the active number of NFHCA scholastic and club head coach members registered in that specific region. NFHCA committees, composed of regional coach members, make selections following the review and evaluation of nominations submitted by member coaches. Over 500 All-Region High School nominations spanning 20 states were received this season.

The NFHCA High School All-Region announcement is the first of four postseason high school awards celebrated and released by the NFHCA. Subsequent announcements include the NFHCA High School All-American teams on December 11, followed by the NFHCA High School National Academic Squad and the NFHCA High School Senior Impact Team in February 2024. The nomination system for NFHCA academic awards opens to NFHCA member coaches in early January.

APTT stresses the importance of teachers and parents partnering together to ensure students' academic achievement. As shown in the graphic below, students only spend 12% of their time with their teachers at school. This leaves 55% of their time when students are awake and away from school. As a team, APTT allows parents and teachers the opportunity to share responsibility for student mastery of foundational skills at each grade level. Teachers cannot do it alone. Families cannot do it alone. Teachers and families need to work together to support student learning for the best results and in the best interests of students.

The Georgia Department of Education began its partnership with WestEd, APTT's parent company, during the 2014-2015 school year to provide training and support on this innovative approach to improving student outcomes through collaboration between teachers, parents, and families. Initially, ten Title I schools joined the first APTT cohort and then, in subsequent years, trained other schools within their district. All APTT schools formed Core Teams to lead the implementation process in the school, and district officials formed Family Engagement Leadership Teams (FELT) to ensure district-level support of the program and its continuation and growth throughout the district.

The process for implementing Academic Parent-Teacher Teams evolved to meet the needs of teachers, families, and parents over the following years. In 2018-2019, several members of the Georgia Department of Education and APTT practitioners from across the state participated in a year-long course to become certified WestEd Trainers for Academic Parent-Teacher Teams. In 2020-2021, as the COVID-19 pandemic halted the opportunity for in-person family meetings, the Georgia class of trainers, under the leadership of WestEd, pivoted to a virtual meeting model and guided APTT schools to support this transition.

In July 2021, Family Engagement Specialist, Megan Roedl, a WestEd certified APTT Trainer, joined the Family-School Partnership Team with the Georgia Department of Education. Megan's previous experience included oversight of the management, training, and implementation of APTT within a large school district. She now coordinates the APTT Initiative at the State level by providing direct training for new Core Teams in LEAs that have not previously had APTT schools and supporting existing APTT schools.

School Leadership Teams (SLTs) and Citywide/Community Education Councils (CCECs) are essential elements of our educational governance structure and ensure collaborative decision- making in school-level and district-level policy. The Guidance on Public Meetings and School Visits explains how SLT and CCEC meetings can be conducted in accordance with recent changes in law and vaccination mandates.

MTSS teams refer to the leadership team or teams that guide and support the implementation of MTSS. MTSS teams should be representative of all key stakeholders, including regular education, special education, administration, and family and community input.
