OBJECTIVE: The purpose of expository writing is to present a balanced, objective description of a topic, and to provide and opportunity for the writer to give a clear and logical explanation of complex information.
SWBAT: Construct well organized writing with a topic paragraph, three supporting paragraphs, and a concluding paragraph that reflect gradeappropriate development and connection of ideas using the writing process.
SWBAT: Student will be able to apply the writing process from prewriting to final product with guidance and support.
SWBAT: Write individually and collaboratively utilizing technology to organize and produce a thoughtful final product.
SWBAT: Write with grade level vocabulary, proper conventions of standard English grammar, usage, and mechanics for writing.
Expectations: The groups are expected to work cohesively and with the upmost respect and integrity. Each team member is expected to share the work load and meet deadlines that are set by the team members. Finally, if a team member is absent, that member is required to complete their assigned section of the assignment. I will not hold the entire team accountable for the members of the team not meeting expectations. If an extension is needed, please send the team lead to represent the team.
Requirements:
Each group will be assigned a topic to research and a list of questions to research for the topic.
* Your goal is to become an expert on your questions and topic and fact check Call of the Wild for misinformation or expert information.
* Look for a connection between your questions and the answers you find, and information/misinformation in Call of the Wild.
You will divide the questions between your group members to research individually.
* Each person should be an expert on his/her questions. If one of your group members or classmates has a question about your topic, someone should be able to address his or her concerns.
When all the group members have finished researching the answers to their questions, the group will get together and discuss their findings.
Lastly, the group will design a presentation to present to the class.
