Miss Hazel is back for year number three! I will continue to bring my experience working in the business side of motorsports to the business classroom. My goal is that we learn a lot and find ways to have some fun doing so. I am enthusiastic about the information I will be teaching, and my hope is that enthusiasm transfers to the students. We will use Google Classroom. Some basic expectations for the classroom: Be on time, participate in class, speak respectfully to everyone, act responsibly when using classroom equipment, and come to class prepared.
Growing up in Jonesboro, I attended Shawnee Community College and Southeast Missouri State University majoring in Sport Management. After college, I moved to North Carolina and spent, ahem, 20 years working in the Motorsports Industry with companies like Charlotte Motor Speedway, World Racing Group and World Wide Technology Raceway. I relocated back to Southern Illinois late in 2023 to be closer to my family. I have an adorable Old English Sheepdog named Hairy.
I am excited for this career change and shifting into business education after experiencing the business world from the sports/motorsports side. I'm thrilled to join the team at Shawnee High School to teach Digital Literacy/Computer Concepts, Media Resources and Personal Finance. I look forward to getting to know all the students and having a fun year of learning along the way.
