Miss Hazel is back for year number two! I will continue to bring my experience working in the business side of motorsports to the business classroom. My goal is that we learn a lot and find ways to have some fun doing so. I am enthusiastic about the information I will be teaching, and my hope is that enthusiasm transfers to the students. We will use Google Classroom. Some basic expectations for the classroom: Be on time, Participate in class, speak respectfully to everyone, act responsibly when using classroom equipment, and come to class prepared.
Growing up in Jonesboro, I attended Shawnee Community College and Southeast Missouri State University majoring in Sport Management. After college, I moved to North Carolina and have spent the last, ahem, 20 years working in the Motorsports Industry with companies like Charlotte Motor Speedway, World Racing Group and World Wide Technology Raceway. I relocated back to Southern Illinois late in 2023 to be closer to my family. I have an adorable Old English Sheepdog named Hairy.
I am excited for this career change and shifting into business education after experiencing the business world from the sports/motorsports side. I'm thrilled to join the team at Shawnee High School to teach Digital Literacy/Computer Concepts, Media Resources and Personal Finance. I look forward to getting to know all the students and having a fun year of learning along the way.
