Click on the drop down arrow and read below to find out more about how Ms. Halee's third-grade classroom operates behind the scenes.
During the first day of school, students will have brainstormed and worked together to put together a classroom contract. When signing this contract, the students are agreeing to follow the agreed upon rules to ensure our classroom community is safe!
Ms. Halee's Classroom Contract 2023-2024:
To listen when my teacher is speaking
To follow directions quickly and quietly
To respect myself, respect others, and to respect my school
To raise my hand to speak
To be honest, be safe, and be kind
Students have the chance to earn raffle tickets throughout the week for going above and beyond class expectations! Every other Friday, the teacher will draw 6 names from the jar and they will have the option to choose a raffle reward.
Raffle Rewards:
lunch with a friend in the classroom
one item from the prize box
sit at the teacher's desk for a day
15 minutes of choice time of their choosing
a few special stickers
Students have the chance to earn classroom "hearts" throughout the day. These hearts are earned as a class, for going above and beyond expectations. They can earn such points through working together as a team at core, recess/lunch, in the classroom, compliments from other teachers, or during practice procedures. When they reach their target goal, they will be able to have a classroom celebration of their choice! Each time they meet their target, the class tally starts over, and the target goal becomes higher.
If students are not following classroom expectations or school rules, they will be given 2 verbal warnings before having to fill out a "think about it" slip. Students will be asked to fill this slip out as a reminder that we have signed a classroom contract and they are expected to follow the agreed-upon rules. On this slip, students will record what they were doing to earn the slip. If they earn 3 in one week, then the student will be asked to write a letter home during choice time on Friday. The teacher will also reach out to the parents and inform them of what has been going on in the classroom.
Fidgets are okay for students to have in my classroom; however, it is their responsibility to keep track of the items. If they become distracted by such items, or are misusing items, students will be asked to keep those items in their backpacks for the rest of the day and we can try again another day!
