Breathing deeply:

Calming Big Feelings
To start your day on the right foot, try these tips...
Breathing Deeply:
🌊 Wave Breaths – Imagine your breath is like the ocean.
1. 👃 Inhale slowly as the wave comes in.
2. 👄 Exhale gently as the wave rolls out.
3. Repeat 5 times.
Mindset: Repeat these every morning before school or when you need a little motivation.
“Feelings are not forever.”
“I can stay calm.”
“I can try again.”
“I am learning every day.”
Mental Health Challenge:
Make a “calm-down box”. Choose a shoebox, an old board game box, a treasure chest. Fill it with things that help you feel better: It could be a coloring page, fidgets, stuffed animals, or books. Then when you are feeling upset use it to calm down.
Start your day with a boost of self-belief…
Breathing Deeply:
🐝 Bumblebee Breaths – Breathe in through your nose, then hum softly like a buzzing bee as you exhale.
👃 Inhale slowly through your nose.
🎶 Exhale while humming.
Repeat 5 times.
Mindset Mantras:
“I believe in myself.”
“I can solve problems.”
“I am growing every day.”
“Mistakes help me learn.”
Mental Health Challenge:
Write down (or draw) one thing you’re proud of each week in October. At the end of the month, look back and celebrate how much you’ve grown. Come to my office and let's celebrate together.
😁 Why did the student bring a smile to school?

🖍️ Why did the crayon feel proud?
It stayed inside the lines and outside the box.

Sometimes you may need to talk to your parents about important things.
Make sure that you use clear and kind words.
If you have something important to share, you can say,
“Can we talk? This is important to me.”
Your parents will listen when you tell them what happened and why it matters to you.
If you have done something wrong at school, you can say,
“I need to tell you something. I made a mistake.”
Telling the truth helps your parents understand and could help you fix it. Remember that mistakes are opportunities to learn and grow.
If I have big feelings, I can say,
“I’m feeling really [name my feeling] and I need to talk.”
You can ask for help, or just ask them to listen.
When you talk to your parents in a kind and honest way, they understand you better.
Talking helps us solve problems, share good news, and feel closer.
