week of SEPTEMBER 15th - SEPTEMBER 19th
week of SEPTEMBER 15th - SEPTEMBER 19th
NWEA FALL TESTING: On Monday, September 15th and Tuesday, September 16th, we will be taking our first NWEA Tests. For new families to SF, NWEA is a standardized test that we utilize to monitor student growth throughout the year. We will take another set of tests in the Winter and our last set of tests in the Spring. Please help your child prepare for these tests by encouraging them to get a good night's rest and a hearty breakfast in the morning.
SCRIPT DRESS DOWN DAY: Wednesday, September 17th will be a SCRIPT Dress Down Day for students who are eligible. Please check the school's website to see if your child may dress down.
CARNEGIE SCIENCE CENTER: For our first Field Trip of the year, we will be visiting the Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh PA on Friday, October 10th. We now have 5 parents who will be our designated chaperones and will be responsible for a small group of students to take around the science center. If you would like to attend the field trip, but do not want to be a designated chaperone, you still MUST be up to date on your VIRTUS training. If you would just like to attend the trip with your child, please utilize the attached Google Document to sign up. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1HwVhVQVRUdJ9J3nZfbLG02rHsKNaMuvKXFOGR5FM0ZY/edit?tab=t.0
MATH HOMEWORK THIS WEEK: We will continue our daily math homework this week. Each night your child will be completing one section of their homework each night in order to prepare for their timed math quiz on Friday. This week they will be practicing the math facts for the number 3 and they will have 5 minutes to answer 25 math facts for 3 on their Friday quiz.
SCHOLASTIC ORDER: If your child would like to purchase books from Scholastic, please utilize the following link to place their order. https://orders.scholastic.com/ZD3NF
STAR STUDENT: The Star Student for the month of September for representing the Virtue of Prudence is Kristian! Congratulations Kristian!
SNACK: Please send your child to school each day with one snack to have during our classroom snack time.
SNACK SIGN-UP: I always like to have extra snacks in the classroom with the chance that a child might forget to pack one for the day. If you would like to help provide snacks for the classroom I have created a signup sheet. I have divided the sheet into months. If your name is under the month in which we find ourselves needing more snacks in the classroom, I will email you asking for them. Please do not send in snacks on your month unless you receive an email requesting some. Thank you so much for your generosity!

LIBRARY READ ALOUD: Our Reader for Monday, September 15th is Melissa Castranova.
Each week, our class will visit the library at 11:30 pm. During this time, parent volunteers will do a read aloud (picture book of choice), and then the students will select a library book to check out for the week. We hope that all of our parents are able to read at some point during this school year. Thank you, parents, for signing up to read to our class!
