week of MAY 26th - MAY 29nd
week of MAY 26th - MAY 29nd
ABC COUNTDOWN TO SUMMER: Activities for ABC Countdown this week are as follows:
Tuesday, May 26th: Water Day - students will participate in fun water activities today
Wednesday, May 27th: eXchange Autographs - students will be signing a paper that will be included in a keepsake to go home (this will be a surprise, so please do not share details with your child)
Thursday, May 28th: Yard Games - students will get to participate in fun yard games at field day
Friday, May 29th: Zip Up and Zoom to Second Grade - students will zip up their final belongings and start their well deserved Summer break!!!
NO SCHOOL MONDAY: There will be NO School on Monday, May 25th in honor of Memorial Day.
WATER DAY ON TUESDAY: We do not plan on any of our Water Day activities to leave the students soaked. However, if you would like to send your child into school with an extra set of clothes this day with the chance of needing a dry change of clothes, please feel free!
FIELD DAY: We will have our field day on Thursday, May 28th. We will be on team BLUE, so your child will need to wear a blue shirt on Thursday. The shirt does not have to be plain, so please do not feel the need to go out and get a brand new shirt. Any blue will do!! They may also wear athletic pants and tennis shoes. Additionally, your child will need a water bottle, sunscreen (if you wish for us to reapply at lunch), a towel (to dry off from the sprinkler station), and a change of clothes if it is wet/muddy out on the field.
CLEANING HOUSE: We will be finishing up cleaning out various items from our desks and cubbies this week so that the students don't have a boat load to bring home all at once. Any items brought home are for the students to keep, so please feel free to save them or throw them away. I will also be sending home the additonal ELA curriculum resources that we did not utilize this year. Please feel free to use these resources as a Summer workbook to avoid that "slide" that inevitably happens over break.
SUMMER STUDY RESOURCE: If you would like for your child to have extra support outside of the remaining ELA curriculum resources to avoid the Summer slide, I have made a packet of the ELA and Math daily activities from our homework that your child will see as morning work in Second Grade. If you would like a copy of these, please let me know and it would be my pleasure to send one home with your child.
SPELLING WORDS: We will NOT have any spelling words this week as we will be completing fun end of year activities!
NEW MATH AND ELA HOMEWORK: There will be NO Math or ELA homework this week!
SCHOLASTIC ORDER: If your child would like to purchase books from Scholastic, please utilize the following link to place their order. https://orders.scholastic.com/ZD3NF
STAR STUDENT: The Star Student for the month of May for representing the Virtue of Patriotism is Andrew! Congratulations Andrew!
SNACK: Please send your child to school each day with one snack to have during our classroom snack time.
SNACK SIGN-UP: I always like to have extra snacks in the classroom with the chance that a child might forget to pack one for the day. If you would like to help provide snacks for the classroom I have created a signup sheet. I have divided the sheet into months. If your name is under the month in which we find ourselves needing more snacks in the classroom, I will email you asking for them. Please do not send in snacks on your month unless you receive an email requesting some. Thank you so much for your generosity!

LIBRARY READ ALOUD: We will not be returning to the library this year. If your child still has a library book checked out, please have them return it as soon as possible.
Each week, our class will visit the library at 11:30 pm. During this time, parent volunteers will do a read aloud (picture book of choice), and then the students will select a library book to check out for the week. We hope that all of our parents are able to read at some point during this school year. Thank you, parents, for signing up to read to our class!
