About Ms. Eaton

Hello!

My name is Cathy Eaton.  I am getting married this summer, so my name will change to Cathy Fields!

I am originally from Connecticut.  I earned my Bachelor's of Science in Human Development: Early Childhood Education from Virginia Tech in 2006.  I immediately began my Master's of Arts in Education in Curriculum and Instruction: Elementary Education, and graduated in 2008.  I am a "double Hokie," which means I have two degrees from Virginia Tech.  I began my doctoral program in Children, Families and Schools at UMass in fall 2023.

After graduation, I began my career as a public schoolteacher in southwestern Virginia.  I have taught kindergarten, first and third grades in rural and suburban school districts.  2024-2025 will be my seventeenth year of teaching.  I joined the Center School family in the fall of 2019.

The children grow so much during the kindergarten year.  It is a sweet time of discovery and learning.

The picture on the left is one of my nieces and I discovering the tidal flats on Cape Cod.  (I have eight nieces, and two nephews!)  My love for teaching was kindled on Cape Cod, where I volunteered as a teenager, and later was an instructor in an environmental education program.

I am excited to share my passion for education at Center School.  I truly love my profession, and seek to build a caring environment in my classroom.
