ELA with

Ms. Burgess!

Sunday, October 3, 2021

Our students have been working hard finishing their i-Ready Reading diagnostic last week. This week we will begin our reading realistic fiction book clubs with the focus being writing about our reading.

In ELA classes, students are expected to read a book of their choice for 20 minutes. After they read, they are to complete a reading log. The purpose of the reading log is for students to reflect on what they have read. What were they thinking? Is this book a "just right" book or is this book one they aren't interested in reading?

We celebrated 3 book buzzes this month!

Talha in HR 125

Donata in HR 127

and

Skyla in HR 128

Each student selected received a $5 gift card and the book they recommended was purchased for our classroom library with a dedication plate on the inside cover in their honor. Thank you for sharing your love for great stories!
