Parents, hopefully these most frequently asked question will help you find the answer you are looking for. If you have any other questions all of my information is on the homepage of the website and you can call, email, or message in the group me.
Question 1: How do I help my child with technology when I don't know anything about it?
Answer 1: If you aren't sure what to do when your child is struggling with their technology, I always do a little bit of research or watch YouTube videos. Videos can always be helpful and useful and can show you step by step on what to do.
Question 2: How can my child be successful in school?
Answer 2: Your child can be successful in school when they show up and pay attention in class and be interactive when we have activities in class.
Question 3: Is my child behaving in school?
Answer 3: If you want to know how your child is behaving you can email me and we can set up a parent/teacher meeting and talk about that.
Question 4: Why do you give so much/so little homework?
Answer 4: Throughout the year I will not be giving out much homework because I know that people are busy outside of school and most students are very active outside of the classroom. Although when I do assign homework or activities to do outside of the class I will expect it to be done.
Question 5: What is the purpose of the assignment?
Answer 5: The purpose for any assignment is to make sure the student fully understands the objective that the teacher is teaching. It also allows the teacher to know where the student is at and what needs to be reviewed before testing.
Question 6: How will you respond if or when my child struggles in class?
Answer 6: If by chance I have a student struggling I will try my best to help them or have them put in RTI. This is not a bad thing, it will help the student get caught up to where they need to be without holding the entire class back. The teacher will only be able to spend so long on a subject or objective and RTI will just provide that student with a little extra help, if it is needed.
Question 7: How can I promote self-directed learning in my home?
Answer 7: If your child at home is having problems with wanting to learn then you can always be encouraging and make sure they have a positive attitude and making sure they know that the parent, or guardian, believes in them and that they are able to do it.
Question 8: Do you focus on strengths or weaknesses?
Answer 8: In the class I think it is important to focus on both. Focusing on the strength of a child is good because I will know what they are good at and what we will just have to review. Focusing on the weakness of a child will be beneficial because they will be able to make a weakness into a strength. Reviewing and practicing strengths will give us enough time to make sure each student is on the same level and their weaknesses are no longer a weakness or at least stronger on the topic.
Question 9: How do you see the role of the teacher in the learning process?
Answer 9: I think the teachers job is to make sure to teach the students what they need to know and their guide in the right direction. I think that students learn from each other more than they do from a teacher. They will be able to see how someone their own age thinks about the subject and a peer may be able to explain the topic on a better understanding level than the teacher.
Question 10: What can I do to meaningfully support literacy in my home?
Answer 10: To support literacy in the home you can encourage your child to read books about things that they enjoy. You could also help them with any type of reading or language arts homework. Working with your child on their reading skills will really increase their chances of not falling behind. An idea to do with your child is read a book with them and then talk about things, like a book club.
