Contract Rules:
This contract will take the place of a regular science test at the end of the chapter. Our next chapter is all about Plate Tectonics. There are 8 different activities that must be completed by the deadline. You will have class time, and time at home. We will also use some class time to do a couple of experiments together. Activities:
1. Read the Chapter on Plate Tectonics. Pages 16-47.
2. Vocabulary (Sections 1, 3 & 5) – Page 49. (15 Points)
A) Definitions in copybook. (5 Points)
B) Oral Quiz (10 Points)
3. Review Questions – Page 50. (29 Points)
A) Questions 1-20 (don’t do 17) in copybook (19 Points)
B) Oral Questions (10 Points)
4. RAFT Assignment – At least 1 Good Paragraph (7 Points)
Role – Geologist, Audience – People of Mars,
Format – Speech, Topic – Two plates converging and colliding
5. Plate Tectonics Timeline. (14 Points)
Draw a timeline showing the chronological order of these scientists and their contributions to Plate Tectonics (Hugo Benioff, Robert Dietz, Harry Hess, Arthur Holmes, Drummond Matthews, Kiyoo Wadati, and Alfred Wegener)
6. Major Plates of the World Game. (5 Points)

Must have 100% in less than 25 Seconds – Must be done in school and shown to me (3 tries)
7. Crossword Puzzle or Word Search. (10 Points)
Make up a crossword puzzle or word search that includes at least seven (7) words from the chapter.
8. Plate Tectonics Song or Rap (15 points)
Create and/or rewrite a song regarding something to do with plate tectonics. This song will be performed in class, shown on a dvd/video or listened to (if it was recorded). The words of the songs must be typed up and given to me. (5 pts-presentation, 5 pts-content and accuracy, 5 pts following directions)

The poster must be 3D in some way. Be creative!
9. Take Home Test. (10 Points)
After completing the Written and Oral Questions, you will get the test I would normally give with this Chapter. Complete it and hand it in.
*** Your test score will come from the total of the 8 graded activities. For example, if you receive a 15 on the vocab, a 26 on the questions, a 4 on the RAFT, an 11 on the timeline, a 5 on the game, a 9 on the puzzle, a 15 on the song, and a 8 on the test, the grade that will go in my book would be a 93%.
