Hello Lewiston-Altura Community,
My name is Kayli Zezulka and I'm an ADSIS intervention teacher for grades K-5 at the district. I'm also the Early Childhood Coordinator.
I'm looking forward to helping your children grow in their reading and math skills. This school year will be a great one!
I currently live in Rushford, MN with my husband, Aaron, my bonus children Anthony and Destiny, our daughters, Reagan and Lydia, and our dog, Gunner.
I enjoy running, kayaking, camping, crafting/sewing, and spending time with family and friends! I love love coffee and sweets!
I'm very passionate about developing my student's reading and math skills, as well as guiding them into becoming lifelong learners.
ADSIS stands for "Alternative Delivery of Specialized Instructional Services". The purpose of ADSIS is to provide instruction to assist students who need additional academic support to succeed in the general education environment. The goal is to reduce the number of inappropriate referrals to special education by providing supports early to struggling students. Districts are expected to align the ADSIS program within their existing continuum of supports, collect data as specified in the application, and submit evaluation information to the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) each year to determine program impact.
(For more information visit: https://education.mn.gov/MDE/dse/sped/ADSIS/)
In order for your child to be eligible, they are SCREENED three times a year:
End of September
Middle of January
End of April/Beginning of May
***To screen students we use: FastBridge, NWEA/MAP, M-Comp & MCAs. We also take Teacher Recommendations into account.
Students in the ADSIS program are Progress Monitored every week.
We use the FastBridge system for progress monitoring in reading and math.
Reading
Kindergarten is assessed in letter sounds, then decodable words.
1st grade is assessed in decodable words and then CBM-R (Fluency).
2nd-5th Grade is assessed on CBM-R (Fluency) and possibly the comprehension component on a case-by-case circumstance.
Math
K-1st Grade is assessed on earlyMath-Number Identification or earlyMath-Decomposing.
2nd -5th Grade is assessed on CBMath-Automaticity (Math Facts at grade-level).
3rd - 5th Grade may be assessed, after automaticity has been mastered, on CBMath-CAP (grade-level concepts).
I see your child every day for 20 - 30 minutes and these are the programs I may use with them:
UFLI Foundations - An explicit and systematic program that introduces students to the foundational reading skills necessary for proficient reading.
